Description of First & Main of Metro Health Village

This is senior living like you’ve never seen it before. Where people remain connected to each other and fully engaged in the things they enjoy. Nestled in a developed, walkable area and designed to bring people together, First & Main of Metro Health Village is a warm, upscale living environment that is well-connected, active, and modern.

From assisted living suites to advanced memory care, First & Main supports the lifestyle you want, provides the security you need, and preserves the dignity you deserve.

Steps away from Metro Health Hospital and dozens of health and wellness specialists, First & Main is fully integrated into the beautiful Metro Health Village campus. Conveniently located at the intersection of M-6 and US-131, minutes east of I-196, it’s an easy drive to First & Main from Grand Rapids—and nearly anywhere else in West Michigan.

The Village Square is the center of public life at First & Main. Organized around beautiful indoor and outdoor social spaces, First & Main's unique design captures the energy and convenience of a town center, with places to eat, shop, and enjoy life with friends. Spaces are lively and modern, flooded with natural light and dotted with courtyards, atriums, and nooks to rest and relax.

Facades designed to recall the residential architecture of a city boulevard welcome residents in to enjoy a meal at a restaurant, worship in the chapel, catch a film in the theater, and chat with friends by the fire in the 24-hour bistro. You’ll find residents gathered on the porch of the salon or relaxing with a book by the fountain. From group classes in the fitness center to buddies tinkering on a project in the wood shop, life happens along the streets of the Village Square.

Through the Square and into the Courtyard, you’ll find gardens and pools for meditation or reflection, a greenhouse, community gardens—even a putting green. Winding paths invite residents to enjoy a walk, and benches beckon walkers to pause, soak in the sun, or read in the shade of a tree. Beyond the Courtyard, patios for the restaurant and bistro connect First & Main to the surrounding neighborhood, providing additional outdoor space to gather with friends and enjoy all that senior life has to offer.

Keeping you connected.

Technology integrates seamlessly into First & Main. Every corner of First & Main is washed with a powerful WiFi signal, so residents and their families are free to use their tablets anywhere they wish to communicate using Skype or email.

Additional technology makes daily life easier and richer for residents:

Radio Frequency Wristbands (RFID) – Residents of First & Main don't have to worry about fumbling with or forgetting their keys. These digitally encoded wristbands easily unlock a resident's suite, providing convenience, security, and peace of mind.

Digital Signage – Throughout the social spaces of First & Main, digital signage keeps residents informed about upcoming events, shows them the forecast, and displays photos of them enjoying community events with friends. It’s Never Too Late Software (IN2L) – IN2L is an intuitive touchscreen software platform that encourages the pursuit of lifelong passions and the exploration of new ones. Residents can play trivia, virtually tour their hometowns, or listen to vintage radio shows.

Behind the scenes, residents benefit from First & Main's advanced care technology:

PointClickCare Electronic Health Records (EHR) – Beginning with a resident’s initial assessment, this sophisticated system keeps a detailed electronic record of the health of a resident. This information is available to the resident’s physician at any time.

PointClickCare Electronic Medication Management Records (EMAR) – Accuracy and accountability are essential in managing a resident’s medication. This system follows physician’s orders exactly and automatically orders refills. QuietCare – Early detection can dramatically improve long-term health. This nearly invisible technology learns a resident’s patterns and alerts care staff when that pattern changes significantly. Sharing this information with the resident’s physician and family allows for proactive measures.

Real-time Location Services Pendant – These pendants provide residents with additional security and peace of mind. With the press of a button they can alert the staff and summon help to their exact location.
