Just minutes from the beaches of Brest Bay on Lake Erie and centrally located between Detroit and Toledo, Brookdale Monroe I (formerly Sterling House of Monroe) is an assisted living and memory care community serving Michigan seniors. Our belief is that all people should receive the same care and courtesy, but that not everyone needs use of the same services. For this reason, we create personalized care plans for every resident at our community.
Brookdale Monroe I is a member of Brookdale. One of the largest providers of senior housing in the country, Brookdale receives consistently high ratings from residents.
Featured Amenities
We want all of our residents to have a sense of independence, so we offer private apartments with wall-to-wall carpeting, kitchenettes and private bathrooms with step-in showers, safety bars and non-slip surfaces. Residents are also welcome to keep small pets.
Our on-site barber shop and stylist provide hair care and services to all of our residents. When the weather is good, many residents enjoy our fully-enclosed, outdoor courtyard and those with a green thumb tend to plants in our gardening area.
Available Services
We focus on personal service at Brookdale Monroe I. We provide our residents with full laundry and housekeeping services. Nurses monitor all healthcare services and administer all medication to our residents.
We want our residents to lead rich, full lives, which is why we have developed and implemented our specialized intervention programs. By monitoring nutrition, weight and balance we can prevent malnutrition and falls before they become a problem.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
Staff, management and quality of care has went totally down hill over the last 6 months. It looks nice, but isn\'t. Your loved one will sit in dirty diapers, they will sit in front of food and won\'t receive help. You will have to hire hospice or another service to see that they are getting cared for. They\'ll start you at around 5K a month and you will quickly go to 12K. Don\'t be fooled by the appearance.
