Description of Hallmark House
Hallmark House is located in Prospect, KY, just 17 miles from Louisville International airport. This small town has plenty for residents and their relatives to enjoy, such as the Prospect Village Shopping Center and restaurants serving a variety of cuisines. There are also many parks in the local area, including Creasey Mahan Nature Reserve with open grasslands, waterfalls, and more than nine miles of trails.
Hallmark House has been providing memory care for those affected by dementia and Alzheimer's for more than 80 years. The community has the capacity for 32 seniors who are organized into four neighborhoods to minimize the confusion of having too many people coming together in one place. Staff members are trained in the Best Friends Approach to Dementia Care and the facility operates the Vigil Dementia System, allowing residents to maintain their independence while monitoring their behavior to reduce the risk of falls. Licensed nurses are available 24/7 to manage medications and a physician is on-call if needed. Hallmark House provides physical and occupational therapy five days a week, and routine lab work and X-rays are carried out on-site.
Families are encouraged to join their relatives for meals and planned events. Organized activities are designed to promote social interaction and allow residents to maintain an active lifestyle. The dining room features an open-plan kitchen so seniors can enjoy the aroma of their food being prepared.
