Ponder Creek Estates was beautiful. Everything would've worked out great, but it was just too far away. The staff that I spoke with was fabulous. It's a great place. I saw a lot of people. The staff mentioned activities, but I didn't ask about them.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has moved into Ponder Creek Estates. I like it for the most part. There was one incident where we dropped off some groceries for my mother, and they delivered them to the wrong person. Since the COVID, they won't let us go up to her apartment, so what we do, we have to take her groceries in, we leave them at the front desk, and they are supposed to deliver the groceries to her apartment. They delivered them to the wrong person, and that person accepted my mother's groceries. My mother's out about $72 worth of groceries, and they have not replaced anything. They haven't given her her money back; nothing. They are aware of what they've done, but they haven't corrected their mistake. I have issues about that of course. That's really the main thing at Ponder Creek. Everything else has been OK, but that one little time. So far, everyone has been pleasant. My mother hasn't told me anything about anyone being rude to her or mistreating her in any way, so I don't have any complaints about that. She is comfortable in her apartment. She likes that she has a balcony. She wishes she could come out of her apartment. She feels like she's in prison right now because she can't come out, and no one can come in, so she feels like she is locked away, and that her apartment is now her prison.

Ponder Creek Estates has a friendly atmosphere. My father hasn't complained about the food. He likes to use the small gym, he started doing yoga, and he plays bingo. His room is clean and nice.

I'm familiar with Ponder Creek Estates. The rooms were adequate and a fairly good size, because it's an older community. They provide meals. The staff is adequate, they have a library, and an activity room. The facility was large and clean.

I Visited This Facility

Ponder Creek Estates was very nice. The people that I spoke with were all very friendly and answered all my questions. I would love to take advantage of it, but I cannot quite afford the rate that they need. It's a little bit out of my budget. When we left, they handed us a little box of cupcakes. They showed me the 1-bedroom apartments, and all of them were very nice and very well taken care of. They had some jigsaw puzzles. It seemed like they have enough entertainment factors there. They have a library and they have music. The staff was very friendly, very nice, and very polite. It seemed like it would be a great place to live. If I could afford it, I'd jump at the chance, but I just can't come up with that kind of money. It's really an excellent place.

I Visited This Facility

Ponder Creek Estates appears to be a very good and clean community. It's very well laid out, very convenient to move around in, and wheelchair accessible. They have a lot of activities for a person to do along with companionship from the other members that live there. The food is very tasty. The rooms that we saw were very nice, reasonable, and spacious. They would be easy for seniors to live in.

The one plus is the rooms are relatively large. My mom has lived at Ponder Creek for almost 3 years. When she moved in, there were resident managers on-site 24/7. Starting this past spring the manager no longer lives on site and leaves by 8:00 pm. The residents were given pendants,I believe from 5 star which they are to press in case of emergency. My mom's has never worked consistently. When she fell recently, she had to crawl to the phone to call EMS because her pendant wouldn't work. For the past 4 or 5 days her pendant would not charge. At one point she told someone from Five star or Ponder Creek about the problem and she was told they had the basic plan and if it worked, it worked and if it didn't, it didn't. The managers used to mingle and interact with the residents. The one they have now stays in his office with the door locked. And by the way, they raise the rates 5% every year. In summary, this is not a very safe place to be and the resident's concerns are not being addressed.

My mother is in Ponder Creek Estates and she likes it. The facility itself is OK, but no one is on-site 24/7. They're on-site from 7:00 in the morning until 6:00 in the afternoon. The entry doors are locked at 8:00 and you have to have a card to get in, but some doors are left open. It has 3 floors and only 1 elevator. The cleaning staff is helpful and if you ask them for something, they'll get it for you. The dining setup is fine, but the menu is not very good. They have a lot of activities -- at least 3 times every day -- and most of it is provided by the residents themselves.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My 90 year-old mother is a resident of Ponder Creek. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The food is great 99% of the time. Healthcare services are offered through private agencies at an extra charge. Mom feels safe in Ponder Creek which is top on my list of importance since she suffers from several phobias. I recommend this facility for anyone.
