I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

We chose Brookdale Vernon Hills for Mom because it's the closest facility. It's very nice. We also liked the people, that's why we chose it. She's very happy there. A female staff member helped me go through all these. She was very helpful, called me, and set up all the tours. Mom is in independent living, but when she needs to go to assisted living, she is right there and will not even have to move rooms. She makes her own breakfast in her kitchen, but she goes and has lunch and dinner in the restaurant. The staff was very friendly, very helpful, they answered all my questions and spent so much time with us. The food is delicious. I've eaten there plenty of times and it's really good. We have absolutely no complaints. It's very clean and there are lots of staff, too. There's always something going on. It's like a country club. The value for money is great because she is getting housekeeping, meals, a shuttle, and all these activities. For what she's getting, it's all fine. Every hour, there's some kind of activity she can do. There are people that come in and play music and she can listen or she can play Bingo. There's arts and crafts, exercising, swimming, there's a fitness room, there's a rainforest, and last month they got on a bus to go to the Arlington Race Track. They do monthly outings to go to the grocery store or the mall.

I Visited This Facility

I visited Brookdale Vernon Hills, and it was a good place. They told me they had a pool, but it was just a wading pool, and I would have wanted a swimming pool. They had an outdoor sitting area, an exercise area, and an entertainment area when you have visitors. The staff was not very thorough about some of the things I was interested in. The building was very nice and clean, and the surroundings were pretty well kept.

My mom has been there for several years, both under the new and old management. I'm convinced that the quality of care and abundance of activities have added years to her life.

I Visited This Community

The first thing that will impress you when you visit The Park at Vernon Hills is the gracious welcome you receive upon entering their front doors. The hospitality level is very high and their engagement with residents is enthusiastic and genuine. You won't want to miss the indoor tropical courtyard that provides a touch of Florida living year round. Imagine in the dead of winter leaving your apartment to have breakfast and your door opens to a lush, tropical paradise. You won't find another senior residence in the Chicago area like it! It's definitely one of a kind.
