Description of Plum Landing
An independent living, not-for-profit organization, Plum Landing is a retirement community for seniors seeking to live independently without the hassle of home ownership and maintenance. Residents of our community enjoy numerous on-site amenities, 24-hour security, delicious meals and much more.
Opened in 1962, Plum Landing has been providing independent retirement living options to area seniors for decades, and is a community where individualism is respected and encouraged.
Apartments at Plum Landing come in a selection of spacious floor plans ranging from 400-800 square feet in size, with units offered in both studio and one-bedroom layouts. All accommodations come with individually controlled heating and air conditioning, ample closet space, a fully-equipped kitchen and an intercom system to the front desk. Pet-friendly units are available upon request.
Plum Landing also offers a full activity program to all of our residents including: games, cards, Bingo, movies, Wii Bowling, in-house entertainment, and trips out to places, shows or meals. When hosting a special occasion or entertaining guests, residents have access to the Stone House Party Room. Items of all sorts can be purchased at our country store, and regular church services are held in our on-site chapel. For convenience, the receptionist at the front desk can assist in making transportation reservations, dining arrangements and help with banking or postal services.
Included in each individual's monthly rent are a number of valuable services. All residences are provided with complete housekeeping twice a month and regular maintenance services as needed. A dining allowance, cable and most utilities are also included in the monthly rent. Our front desk also makes well-being calls each morning and each night to each resident, to make sure that they are safe.
When needing to reach a personal appointment or wanting to run some errands, may schedule our courtesy car to drive them. However, Plum Landing also provides scheduled transportation to shops, restaurants, and to go on trips almost every day of the week at no extra charge. Seniors who still enjoy driving themselves are provided with private parking spaces. Plum Landing also provides on-site salon and barber services, as well as personal laundry services for a reasonable charge.
Seniors looking to enjoy a lifestyle of independence and relaxation in the Aurora area should look no further than Plum Landing.

I Visited This Facility
Plum Landing was smaller and older than other places. The area that it's in seems to be an older area and there was heavily traveled street right in front of the building. The building seemed to be a little older. There was only one unit that had a kitchen. They had a much older population and they didn't seem to have a lot of activities posted. Interestingly, when you walk in the front and speak to the person at the desk, you were on the fifth floor. The building was behind that down a hill. It's not a facility that I would consider. There was a chapel and I saw one area which was part of the dining room. It's used off hours for card playing and things of that sort. The staff member was very courteous and friendly, but they were a little understaffed overall.

I’d like to start by thanking She01 for taking the time to write a review of Plum Landing. I do feel the need to respond to several items she mentions. We are smaller and older. Our 64 apartments mean the staff and residents know each other by name, and our 56 years in business mean we have the experience to provide our residents the services and amenities they’re looking for. She is correct that we are in the original part of Aurora on Lake St. (Rt.31). It makes us very convenient to all the amenities Aurora has to offer, including the Paramount Theatre and its highly acclaimed Broadway series, The Hollywood Casino, RiverEdge Park, local restaurants, park district community center next door, walking path, nearby medical facilities, and quick access to highways and I-88 when needed.
The fact that you walk into the top floor of a six-story building that is built into the hillside leading down to the Fox River makes it hard to notice our convenient location. The sounds of the road are replaced by the calming influence of the Fox River and park land next door.
I am confused by the “one unit that had a kitchen”, as every apartment from the studios to our largest apartments have a complete kitchen including gas range, refrigerator, and microwave. Our Dining Room is not part of any other area. It is beautiful however, with all meals served by attentive servers (no buffets) on white linen, with china, glass, and silver. There are separate lobby areas on other floors that are ideal for card playing or just getting together, including the 4th Floor with its Coffee Hour and Country Store.
If you’re looking for all the best in senior living, and the best location in the area, please call me at 630-896-5031 for a tour. Thank you.

The price is affordable but the amenities follow suite. Housekeeping and maintenance are included, a basic dining room with a handful of options per meal, etc. They pride themselves most on the activities. While they have the basics like cards, crafts and Bingo, they pay special attention to changing their larger activities based on the season. For example, in spring they go to the race track and in fall they visit an apple orchard. A favorite pastime is bean bag baseball, which is a combination of bags and baseball. They even have a team that plays others teams in surrounding communities, so it has built a lot of comradery through this activity.
