I visited this facility

We went to Laurel Grove. It was very welcoming and clean, it looked like the residents were active, so I was very satisfied with the place. The place was very nice, the staff was very open, and she took her time with me, so I was very appreciative of that. It wasn't rushed or anything just to make me feel comfortable, and answered all questions, concerns, everything. I saw apartments with or without balconies, the studio, and one-bedroom floor plans. Everything looked updated, and it was a nice, little arrangement. I saw the activity room, the dining area, a communion area, and I think I saw the chapel, and I was satisfied with all. I didn't see the actual food itself. I did see the menu, that would be a five, and also I was very impressed with their COVID check-in process.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I love Laurel Grove. I like the people, the food, everything. They have home care that comes in for the residents. I'm really pleased with the food. Their spaghetti was the best I've ever had. Everybody is nice. It's a lovely place to live. The staff is very personable. My cottage has 2 rooms, 2 baths, a living area, a full kitchen, a garage, a patio, and a yard for the dogs.

Business Response

Thank you for your review, Diane! Our goal is to have happy residents and family members, so your feedback is very important to us.

Laurel Grove's setting is nice. It is a walking distance to different stores. The Ace Hardware and a food store is right near there and there are lots of things. However, in their room, you don't have cooking facilities. You only have an extra small microwave, and that's it. They do provide three meals a day. The menu looked great. With Laurel Grove, you have to wear the medical alert. If you have doctor's appointment, they will provide transportation, too. They also have different places that you can go on vacation, and it doesn't really cost you that much to do that. With the price of what they're charging you to stay there, and since you're paying upfront, you might as well take advantage of that. You can also have a guest in your room for a week at a time which is somehing nice. The staff is wonderful.

I visited this facility

My mother refers to Laurel Grove as the lovely place. We liked the view. Some of the windows were over the woods rather than a parking lot. They showed us all of the amenities and described some of the activities. We were there on a Sunday afternoon of Thanksgiving weekend. They offered us a meal, but my father said no. That’s the only place my mom wants to go. It's an independent living kind of place where you can gradually increase the amount of support you get. The staff member, Chad, has been phenomenal. We were very impressed with the cleanliness. The facilities were in good condition. My father was looking for activities exclusively for men like a woodworking shop, but Laurel Grove is not big enough to support something like that.

Laurel Grove was amazing. It had a very nice atmosphere, was a well-kept place, and the nicest place I visited. We went there in the morning, they showed us the rec room, and they were serving breakfast at that time. The staff we talked to was super friendly. That was the best maintained, cleanest, and was the most welcoming place we visited.

Laurel Grove had a lot of active people in my age range. The apartments were beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. They had a chef that’s wonderful, and the food was delicious. They had so many different types of activities every single day. The whole place was beautiful and very clean.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Our experience with Laurel Grove was great. They invited us to stay for lunch and answered all our questions. We met several of the residents and saw several of the available rooms and the model. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and the food was awesome. It was a great fit. They had activities for the residents every day to keep them active. There were also exercises, reading groups, dances, and movies during the evenings, and all sorts of things.

I visited this facility

Laurel Grove accepted pets, and the visit was very good. The food was good, and the dining room was very pleasant. The staff was very outgoing. The people appeared to be very happy. They had a lot of activities; that's my thing. When you have depression, it is very easy to become isolated, so I have to be in a place that has a lot going on so that I get out of my room. That's part of my condition. The rooms were not as big as mine. Some had kitchen facilities so that you could have an opportunity to cook for yourself. I think that's a big plus.

Laurel Grove was clean, and they had a variety of activities for the senior citizens. They had vans that would take them to places. They had time to speak together about a certain topic. They served 3 meals a day. They would take them to doctor's appointments. They had a beauty salon. The staff was very informative, very knowledgeable, and very pleasant. The place was very well kept, cheery, and homey. We saw a studio and a 1-bedroom apartment. They were adequate, and they were everything that my mother would need. It had a shower so she did not have to sit over the tub. It would have been quite adequate.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Laurel Grove was a very good community. It's independent. The people were very nice and well-organized and they seemed to have everything that my mom needs. Unfortunately, we had to move her out of there because she needed assisted living. I wish they could have more things that the residents could have done. Like more activities.

Laurel Grove was lovely. They were gracious and the guy who gave us the tour answered our questions, followed up, and was great. They had lots of activities and a lovely dining hall. A lady who has been there for six months said the place was wonderful and I trust her. The place is just not as convenient to get to and it's almost impossible to find. It's off of the main road and there's no sign.

I visited this facility

The person who toured us at Laurel Grove was wonderful, very nice, and personable. He knew a lot about the community. However, I didn't like the place. I felt it was dirty with garbage all over, and I really didn't like the apartment. It was not what my in-laws are looking for. The place wasn't very upgraded, so everything was very basic. It's fine for somebody who wants that but that's not what my in-laws were looking for. The grounds were very nice, but they did not have a cottage to show us. It was a little bit disappointing but it also gave us the comparison, which we were looking for. This is not what we wanted, but maybe it's great for somebody else. My husband and I turned to each other and said this place was dirty and shabby. I wouldn't want to put a family member there. It definitely was not the place for my in-laws. It was not upgraded enough.
