I'm in The Regency House, I believed their promises and I'm very unhappy here. They're not resident-oriented. They advertised that they have chef-prepared meals but they're institutional kids' cafeteria food. They advertised that weekly housekeeping can't touch any of the residents' property, so there's nothing that they can do, they don't move wastebaskets or little step stools to vacuum under it. They leave the floor soaking wet, when they finish doing whatever they do, they don't clean the sink, counters, or anything like that. The food is inedible; it's not something that you would wanna serve to anybody. I do physical therapy there, they have a room with a few machines and I pay extra for that. They haven't lived up to the agreement that I signed. They don't do the housekeeping, I can't hear the announcement that they sent over out on the PA system in the hallways, and they don't communicate when they make changes, I can't remember everything that is wrong with this place. The staff is very rude on my floor.
I really liked The Regency House, but the pricing was out of our budget. I liked the way it was laid out, the rooms, and the location. I was pleased with the amenities. They had full dining, they had activities, and they take them to and from the store and to and from the doctor. We met with one person and that was the person who showed me around the facility, and she seemed very knowledgeable of the place. The gentleman in the front asked me to sign in and do the temperature check. He was following their guidelines for COVID-19.
I had been in some assisted living places for my other relatives, which were very dark and depressing and were basically a long hall with a little room. The Regency House has a long hall with doors also, but we got a two-bedroom and two-bath, which is four times the size of the other person we're talking about. It has an external door so you don't have to go through the community hall every time. There's a walking trail all around the place with seats where you can sit. And there is this little place, about the size of a car, where my mom can plant plants and her own bushes. Everythig else I saw wasn't like that. We looked at the outside of about 11 places and we just didn't feel warm and fuzzy. We saw this place, and from the outside you can see the trail go around it and the outside just looked brighter. So of those 11 places, we went in there. The people were very nice and professional and then we saw her place; it's like an apartment. The other place was very dreary. It was just the whole cherriness of the place, the amount of room, and the price. My parents can pay everything for themselves. I thought it was cheap for the two-bedroom and two-bath.
The Regency House is not up-to-date, it needs refurbishing and remodelling. It's quite dated. They have good-sized rooms, and a good selection. They have activities, a library and amenities but they're all minimally satisfactory. They don't have a good library, but they have a library. There's not much emphasis on their outdoor space as far as I can see, but the people were very friendly.
