I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My brother moved into Isles of Vero Beach, but his dementia problems were such that he required a lockdown facility. At first he tried an independent living facility, but he left in his car inside without authorization. That turned out to be a big problem. I have no criticism whatsoever about the Isles of Vero Beach, but we have to find another place with a lockdown capability. I found Isles of Vero Beach to be almost like a resort. It is beautifully run, and they have very nice, accommodating people. They could not really be responsible for my brother because of his limitations. I can't say enough about their kindness and their creativity in trying to accommodate him. However, they did not have a lockdown capability, and that's not their fault. They were not designed for that.

Isles of Vero Beach is one building that's three stories high. They have independent living and assisted living as well, and it was a very nice place. They sent me a brochure and they have a really nice website. However, when we got to the end of the discussion, the information was different than what they sent me. For example, when they sent me the brochure they told me there was no buy-in, but when I was physically there they said there was a $3,500 buy-in. It kind of surprised me an awful lot. When I talked to them on the phone, they had four specific units that were large and they told me those were $2,400 a month, but when I was there they told me that it was $3,200 a month. The unit they showed me had not been used in over a year. It was nicely set up, but it was old and in disrepair, the fixtures were not modern, and it still smelled very musty, even though it had already been shampooed. It was totally carpeted. I'm in a wheelchair, so that would mean it would be hard for me to get around. The parking was in the back and all the hallways in the community were carpeted, and the only wheelchair entrance was in the front of the building. So to get to my unit on the third floor, I'd have to wheel a very long way to even get into the building. The staff was very nice to me during my visit.

We visited Isles of Vero Beach. We looked at both assisted and independent living. The gentleman that worked with us was wonderful. It was very comfortable. They have gorgeous rooms. The apartments were spectacular. They had just a very nice group of people there and the care levels seemed to be good also. The grounds were good and it was a very convenient location. It was pretty easy to find. The Isles had several different communities which might be a little bit confusing at first. The 2-bedroom is basically two master suites, which was nice. They had walk-in closets and beautiful bathrooms set up with handles strategically placed in them. One was a shower and the other one was a shower-bath combination. It had a large living room. The ones that we saw had beautiful views out the back and had a washer and dryer in-house. It was fresh and nicely painted and very clean. We didn't try the food, but the menu looked good. It's a more relaxed atmosphere.

The apartments in Isles of Vero Beach were very nice and roomy. There were lots of amenities, a library, recreation room, community room, pool, shuffle board, and things like that. The place was kept clean. The staff that showed me around was very nice, friendly, and informative. I saw the residents doing card games and puzzles.

We had a very pleasant visit to the Isles of Vero Beach. We've been there twice. The apartments were very similar in size and design, and they have balconies and patios on the ground floor. They showed us mainly 2-bedrooms and 2-baths, and it looked like it would be adequate. They come in once a week for light housekeeping, and they will wash and change your sheets if you use theirs. You can wash your things in laundry facilities on each floor, or you can have your own washer and dryer hooked up in your own unit. They have a salon and barber shop, and a small variety store. They have a gym and a woodworking room. The staff was very informative and very helpful.

The Isles of Vero Beach was very nice. The grounds are very lovely. They have three meals a day, but the food was not really good, and my parents were not used to apartment living. It was clean, very airy and bright, and they liked it. They have movie nights, they gather round the piano, play Bingo, have poker games, and billiard competitions.

Isles of Vero Beach was nice but large. They had very nice, big apartments and a lot of residents. They were very gracious. They had all kinds of games, barber shop, hairdresser, pool, exercise class, and rides to appointments. They offered a lot for the seniors. The sales manager was awesome.
