The best way to get to know a community is by scheduling a tour. See the facilities, meet the staff and residents, and get a feel first hand what it's like to live at Brookdale College Parkway Independent Living.
Brookdale College Parkway was very old and rundown. It was nasty, disorganized, and had a funky smell to it. I was not impressed. I only spoke to the lady who was giving the tour, and she was very good and very knowledgeable. The apartments were very nice sized and fantastic, and they had a nice sunroom in there. I didn't see an outdoor area, but they had a little church inside that was kind of cute. The place was very small, crowded, dirty, and dingy. I didn't care for it.
Brookdale College Parkway's apartments were very nice. I liked everything about the place. However, we don't think we could afford the price as far as what they want for everything. They have a pool and workout exercises. They did say they have bingo and card games, but I think I would have been more interested in all the physical activities. The dining area was very nice. The staff seemed very friendly.
Brookdale College Parkway was the one I liked the best. It was affordable, met all of our requirements, and was large enough for me and my wife. The people there smiled compared to some of the places we visited where the people didn't look very happy, and that meant a lot to me. We had lunch, and the food was good.
The living quarters at Brookdale College Parkway were very nice. The staff and the facilities were wonderful. They had many more things to do because it’s a bigger facility with independent living, too. We saw a craft room where some ladies were crocheting or knitting and playing cards. They had a pool with water aerobics. I found it very nice that the chef came out to talk to us.
