I like The Bedford except for the fact that it was small, but it was homey. It was not fancy, but my wife liked it. She thought that it was comfortable. It was very interesting. There was a guy who was the salesman that showed us around. The residents seemed very friendly. There was a computer room, and it had a couple laptops in it that were free for everybody to use. They had movies on a regular basis, transportation to various attractions around the area, and they had clubs of various kinds. If we were going to make a move, it would be to Bedford or a place like it. They have a connection with home health agencies. People can come in and provide whatever services might be needed, but they don't provide them themselves. I saw and chatted with the dietitian who's a very friendly lady. I also talked to the day manager who was very pleasant.

Mom is waiting for an opening at The Bedford. The place is beautiful, very warm, and feels like home. The bedrooms are nice with high ceilings, fireplaces, a nice-sized kitchen, and crown mouldings. It doesn't feel like you're going into a box. The whole building is done beautifully and doesn't feel like a place for older people. It's lovely, and the grounds are gorgeous. The staff are all very nice. We ate there, and it was all very nice.

I Visited This Community

The Bedford was our first choice, but they did not have assisted care. It was located close to shopping and everything. They seemed to have more interest in one-on-one attention. They had a buffet, and the food was excellent. They did not have much of a view from their rooms. The atmosphere was very nice, and the staff was very friendly. The dining was smaller than the one my mom was in, and it's a smaller community with less units, which I liked.
