I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
Let me start by saying Horizon House is a big place. There are two buildings 19 stories high and a smaller one. The location is great and the view from the Sky lounge is stunning. There are art pieces throughout the facility. It is definitely a vibrant community. With an endless amount of things to do, the saline pool is a great. There is a woodworking shop and the day I was there many were busy building something. The fitness room was rather large, nobody was using it but the equipment was nice. The dining room was very nice; it was more like a restaurant. We chose to sit on the patio and ate a light lunch, the salad was great and the fruit was fresh. There is also a Bistro onsite for you to purchase food it was good sized with a good selection of food and such. The facilities for assisted living and the skilled nursing facilities are close by. The rooms were very nice. The resident I visited had a full kitchen in her apartment and it was quite spacious. She also gets credit in the dining room if she doesn’t want to cook. She also is part of the sew club they have, she spends a lot of time sewing so this is great to have for her. It is assuring knowing she is happy and taking care of. Being in Seattle there is so much to do and see, she frequents the many musical events and there were two nice shuttles at the front taking residents out shopping to the grocery stores. The staff was very nice when I got there and helped me find my resident; they answered all my questions and were very pleasant and helpful. Horizon House is a great place to retire and still live near Seattle's vibrant downtown and Capitol Hill neighborhoods, it is on the pricey side and there are no subsidies offered at the facility. As I was leaving there were musicians coming in as I was leaving, I was told they have live performances on-site!

I Visited This Community
I have been visiting parishioners at Horizon House for the past four years, and find it to be a warm, engaging and caring community. I share duties with another neighborhood Episcopal priest leading worship services there every other month. The Pastoral Care team at Horizon House is excellent. They have a great sense of where people are on their spiritual journey, and have good relationships with residents home parishes. The Assisted Care facility at Horizon House is quite good. It is easy to access, and the environment is caring and highly competent. I recommend Horizon House for consideration when looking for long term living environment in downtown Seattle.
