The Gardens of Virginia Beach was the best of them all. The atmosphere was real upbeat, the people that were there were socializing more than the other places I visited. When I asked them how they like living there, they were all very happy. The staff was nice and good. When you walk in there's an open feeling, like a living room area with a TV. People were sitting on the couch and watching. They also have a jukebox that plays old songs, and you don't need to put money in it; the people can just go up and pick songs. It was very nice, and they also have an exercise room.

The people at The Gardens of Virginia Beach were down to earth. I liked the rooms. It didn't feel too much like a fancy place. You can eat the meals anytime you want, which would be good for my sister. You don't have to go at a prescribed time. I saw an activity board, they had shopping tours, and they had a hair salon, and a water dispenser on every floor. I liked her room because it wouldn't be facing the street or anything. If she wants to go out on her own and get herself to eat or browse around, she can just cross the street. Everybody was very nice. They had a seat in the elevator. The Gardens seemed like the best place for her. They had trivia, You Be the Judge, stories brought to life, bible study, and outings. When you walk in, there are people sitting all around.

The rooms and closet space at The Gardens of Virginia Beach were small. The staff was very nice. When I was there, some residents were coming back from doing shopping and some were in a reading activity outside. They had a beauty salon. I didn't like their bathrooms because they're not big. Some residents were out on the porch and some were out in the backyard. It was a really nice place.

Since my mother doesn't speak English, The Gardens was my second option. They have a staff who speaks Greek, that's why I almost put my mother there. I felt she would be more comfortable there because there is a nurse she could talk with. The people that I met were very nice. However, the room was just a room with a bathroom.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My sister is at the Gardens of Virginia Beach and she's been there for two months now. It's a nice place, it's got everything, it seems very orderly, and the food is good. The assistance has been very helpful and the medical staff is doing great, very helpful, and she's getting physical therapy too. She's got a nice room that we furnished and it seemed clean and orderly. It's a little more expensive than we'd like though.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

The Gardens at Virginia Beach is a very nice elder living community. Each resident's room has a pleasant view, common areas are well appointed, and the overall facility is well maintained. What separates The Gardens from other local elder living residences are the staff. Here, they are wonderful. The care partners I’ve encountered take a genuine interest in the residents. They get to know them as ‘people’. They learn the residents’ idiosyncrasies, needs, and daily routine. The medication techs are thorough. In addition to dispensing medications, they monitor the overall health and wellbeing of the residents under their care, being mindful of subtle changes which might indicate additional services / treatment / oversight may be needed. Transitioning a parent into an elder care residence can be challenging. It gives me terrific peace of mind knowing my mother is being cared for as well, if not better than I could care for her.

I had a tour at The Gardens of Virginia Beach. My dad will be going there this September. The staff who contacted me was excellent and very pleasant. Everything was fresh looking. The manager knew all the residents by name. I found the place to be very good and not huge but a good size. Their courtyard was huge and had a lot of trees and flowers. The access was easy and handicap-friendly all the way.

Pet accommodations offered within this facility. Spacious rooms with professional and friendly staff members. Fully furnished facility offering clean living spaces. The program offers a wide variety of activities including playing board games, entertaining guests and taking field trips. There is a designated activity coordinator who is responsible for facilitating the variety of activities offered within the residence. More expensive unit though the accommodations are very high end.
