I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
This community on the surface makes a favorable initial impression. The amentities in the public areas are pretty nice but are showing a little wear. We were told there was one caregiver in the memory care area for every 2-3 residents and that there were many activities offered to stimulate residents with Alzheimers. However, our experience (with the exception of 1-2 evening caregivers) is that they do the minimum required getting residents up, dressed and to meals. Most of the time I see residents sleeping in their wheelchair beds while caregivers sit around and txt or play on their phones. In the assisted living area, the management is slow to respond to requests for maintenance in apartments and the community was without a maintenance employee for more than 2 months. Food is adequate, but nothing to rave about. This assisted living community is geared towards higher-needs, limited mobility residents (using wheelchairs, walkers, etc.) that primarily go to their rooms and go to meals. This is NOT a good fit for active alert seniors that may need a little extra help or monitoring, but still want to be active and stimulated.

I Visited This Community
Walnut Creek is tucked away on the calmer side of Mansfield. Walking up to the entrance I felt very safe and peaceful. I saw a couple of small pets and, was surprised I didn't smell any odors. It was super clean and organized. The staff gave me lots of information about the facility and activities. The activities are very interesting and suited to keep the residents active and aware of current events. From what I could see they are very caring and accommodating. The residents were eating and seem to really like the taste of the food.

I Visited This Community
This community has spacious apartments with beautiful landscaping. The residents are kept busy with a variety of activities that coordinate with holidays and community events. This community allows the residents to be very vocal by incorporating their ideas and overall suggestions. The onsite salon was a good place for residents to socialize and feel pampered. The nursing care was considered A+ according to the residents.
