I Visited This Facility

I definitely considered The Gardens at Spring Shadows, but it was too expensive for me. Nevertheless, it was a nice place. The location was not great, but the place was good. The staff was very nice. The food was exquisite. It was as good as 3-star or 4-star restaurant. I found the other tenants to be very friendly. The Gardens at Spring Shadows had something planned every afternoon. They had cards, games, dominoes, bingo, and bridge. Also, during the tour, everybody was talking about the small trip that they had taken.

I Am/Was A Resident Of This Facility

I'm here at The Gardens at Spring Shadows and I love it. It's wonderful. I've recommended it to people all over the United States. It was a $500 deposit. I told the staff what my income was going to be and she said they'll use that deposit for my next month's rent. The people have been gracious. I get meals all day. Today, we had fruit, juices, bacon, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, soup, chicken, pasta, bread pudding, and shrimp. It's almost too much food. This place is safe and that's my number one thing, and the food is delicious. Even if you don't go to the dining area, they give you food. They make sure everybody here eats. Nobody is going to starve here. They give away free washcloths. They give away all kinds of stuff. Everything is included in the rent. I have a car, but they can take me to the grocery store. It's affordable for me.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My dad moved into the Gardens at Spring Shadows, and it has been working out wonderfully. Everybody we spoked with before we moved in were very kind, and they're still very attentive and kind to my dad. He loves it. It's an older property, but they keep it up very nicely. It's not fancy, but it's nice, clean, and everything appears to be working. I went with my father, and they had really good food. There was also plenty, so it was very filling. The workers in the cafeteria were very nice.

We'll be staying at The Gardens at Spring Shadows. It's clean and the rooms are large. The staff is very friendly. The price is what got us. We will only get breakfast and lunch from Monday through Friday. The dining area is very clean and nice. They're putting in new carpeting for us and painting the room before we move in. It's a 2-bedroom with a kitchen and pantry on both sides. The living room is a bit oddly-shaped because it's two small squares on either end connected with an extra large hallway or room. It's a weird setup, but we can make do with that.

My mother liked The Gardens at Spring Shadows a lot. She liked everything about it. The people were friendly and nice. She liked the fact that they were real apartments and not just little kitchenette apartment. We did a lunch tour and she liked the food a lot. She liked the fact that they offer a takeout option. Basically, if she doesn't feel like eating in the lunchroom or the cafeteria, she could take it back to her apartment and eat it there. They're pet-friendly. They have a little pharmacy and convenience store on-site and she was really impressed by that. She liked the shuttle service they offered. The staff was very nice, very friendly, and very helpful. The food was good and the choices were good too.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My friend moved into The Gardens at Spring Shadows. I liked the activities and I liked the fact that it was a lower income for elderly. They fix meals twice a day for them, they take them to and from Wal-Mart and other places, so she doesn't have to drive, and she can even go on a shuttle bus. They have church services from different religions there at the facility. They have get-togethers like activity nights. There's the pool and the doggie park if you have a little puppy that you need to take to go potty. The ladies that ran the facility were showing her around and the woman called on the radio because she spotted somebody else trying to walk with a walker and knew how far she was from her place. She sent somebody down with a golf cart to pick her up and take her home. So, they're watching people there. They don't babysit you like in an assisted living facility, but they're paying attention when the residents are out. They bring your groceries right up and put them on your kitchen counter. The public laundry rooms are excellent and super clean. The elevators are also super clean. The apartments are individual, so it depends on the person that's living there how clean those are. The dining room and all the public areas that I saw were clean and very nice. We went to so many places before and I felt like for this area, it was the best priced for what it is. They have church service and bible study.

The Gardens at Spring Shadows has some age on it. They could do some upgrading to make it a lot more appealing, but it is acceptable. They have on-site home healthcare, which is its bestselling feature. The staff was very friendly, and thorough in terms of showing you what you wanted to see and then some. They were also knowledgeable about the property, including what's been changed and what they anticipate changing.

The Gardens at Spring Shadows was nice and big, but they were old, separate buildings. The rooms were big, and it was better in many ways compared to other places, but I didn’t like that I have to go outside to do things.

The Gardens at Spring Shadows has an apartment available that is affordable, but it is very far away from where I am. You get 2 meals a day and the price is affordable. They have widened the door of the apartment so a wheelchair could fit through it. They also have a laminate wood floor instead of carpet, which is nice. The only thing I didn't like is that the bathtub is a split tub and there is no place to sit in the bathroom. Also, they only serve breakfast and lunch.

The Gardens at Spring Shadows is an apartment complex converted into a senior citizen home. I didn't like it because it's not as handicap- or age-accessible as I would've liked it to be. The environment was decent, but they didn't have a lot of community area. You would see people on their porches, but no group gatherings. The staff was good, courteous, and knew the people. They had a big enough dining area, but it was basically a room. It didn't stand out in my mind. Everything was small, like the exercise room and the beauty salon.
