I Visited This Facility

My impression of The Laurels & The Haven in Stone Oak was horrible and I didn't like it. The manager was really nice, but she was going through treatments. I would suggest they let her go home and finish her treatment, then put somebody in who's more pleasant with the guests and gives interesting tours. I had lunch there, but the pasta I had was cold, so it stuck together. I was very disappointed with my visit. I wouldn't like to live there.

I liked The Laurels and the Havens the best. I was actually going to put my aunt in that facility up until we had a family emergency. It was the best fit for her, it had a great community feel, everybody was so nice, and I thought it would work the best for her. They have really good activities, they actually have some outings that my aunt would have found very enticing, and they keep the residents entertained. They have bingo, a quilt club, they do arts and crafts, and they were going to the Pearl for lunch. They have shopping.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My sister is currently living at The Laurels and The Haven in Stone Oak. It's been very good and homey. She receives the therapy that she needs there, and the food is good. She needs a certain level of assistance, and they're able to provide that for her, so it's a pretty good fit. The rooms and apartments are very nice and spacious. She plays bingo a couple of afternoons a week, and they have a fitness club, a walking club, different church services, a therapy room and exercise, field trips, movies, and book club. They have lots of different activities to keep the residents engaged with each other. There was a little staffing incident.

The Laurels & The Haven is very nice, and the rooms are open and easy enough for the residents to get around in. They have bingo and a beauty salon, and they take them to Walmart once a week.

The Laurels and the Haven in Stone Oak is a very lovely community. It’s staffed with friendly people who seem to enjoy what they do. I visited this community and was pleasantly surprised at the layout. The layout is very relaxed, yet conducive to independent living. Everything was clean and all of the residents seemed satisfied. The residents were finishing up a dance type activity and they were really enthused about the next session!

Description of The Laurels & The Haven in Stone Oak

The Laurels & The Haven in Stone Oak, an assisted living and Alzheimer's and dementia care residence, is located in beautiful, historic San Antonio, Texas.

The Laurels

The Laurels is among the finest assisted living residences anywhere. The architectural design, layout, and decor are superb; the multiple levels of care and activities provide customized care for each individual resident; and every member of The Laurels in Stone Oak staff is a dedicated professional. The Laurels offers a variety of floor plans with an array of living options, as well as multiple dining, recreational, service, and social areas -- all beautifully appointed and decorated.

Wide, well-lit hallways and a well-designed floor plan make all areas handicap accessible. The landscaped grounds include gardens, playgrounds, and visiting areas.

The Haven

The Haven is an assisted living residence designed, programmed, and staffed for individuals with early, middle, and late stages of Alzheimer's and dementia. Tailored to enhance dignity and foster independence, The Haven has licensed and offers a progressive approach, which encourages family participation through care planning, education, special events, and support groups.

This 40,000-square foot assisted living residence is separated into two main areas - The Public House and The Private House. The Public House contains the business office, kitchen area, an activity/community room, and other meeting areas. The Private House is dedicated completely to the comfort and well-being of our residents and contains three assisted living neighborhoods - each designed for the early, middle, or late stages of Alzheimer's and dementia; a dining and sitting area as well as a TV room; a spa; and Main Street, which includes an ice cream parlor, a beauty salon, and other life skills areas reminiscent of 1940s Main Street America.
