I Visited This Community
Emeritus at Amber Oaks is a good facility for the price. The facility is located in a good neighborhood where traffic is moderate during business hours, but not bad at other times. Within two miles of the facility, there are parks, shopping centers, and restaurants. The facility is clean and well-maintained.The activities at this facility are adequate and meet the various needs of the residents. Bingo games, card games, arts and crafts, day trips off site to shopping centers, etc., are some of the many activities that keep these residents busy. I did not see any of the activities in progress during my visit. However, I was shown an activity sheet of some of the activities that take place. Since this is not a nursing home, but an assisted living facility, there is not a lot of medical intervention taking place. Still, there is physical and occupational therapy to help the residents stay healthy. I was not impressed with the menu choices, but the food was descent when I visited. I had a type of steak dish with a baked potato. The food was hot and served to me. I think that staff do a great job in making sure all the residents are fed in a timely matter. There are a lot of amenities here. There is a gym, salon, game room, and much more. The facility does seem to be a bit dated, and the atmosphere was not as bright and open as I expected. There are a lot of residents at this facility, and everyone I observed seemed to be getting their needs met. The staff was engaging with the residents, and they were also friendly. In locating a facility for my loved one, I ask many questions. The staff seemed to be willing to answer all of my questions, and they were professional and helpful. I decided that this facility was not for my loved one, but I think for many residents, this is a great place to call home. Emeritus at Amber Oak is affordably priced. So, if you are looking for affordability and adequate care, you should put this facility on your list of places to visit.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
My disabled mother has stayed here for some time. The facility seems OK, albeit outdated, but lacks modern amenities, which can make a big difference when one is disabled and has limited mobility. Although costs are within what SSI will pay, I guess you get what you pay for. The staff always seems very friendly when I call and talk to them (I live overseas, so cannot directly interact), but she is constantly calling me complaining about the facility, weird rules they have (i.e., how they will not let her bring food from the dining hall back to her room), lack of connectivity (no wifi, and tv/internet is expensive), and odd dining hours (she tells me she frequently misses meals because she can't make it down on time). It seems she's frequently treated as a second class citizen and left out of the loop on things there.
