Both my parents moved from CA to this facility in 2003. Father died in 2006 but Mother continues to reside there. Over all those years I've watched this facility go from First Class to merely acceptable: starting as a private enterprise it had a great manager, sufficient staff, and awesome meals. It then became a Merrill Gardens property, eventually to be sold to Emeritus...who then sold out to Brookdale. Each sale brought on an increase in room price with a reduction in quality and service. More promises but not enough employees to carry them out. Staffing now is an issue. IE, cleaning and bed making is put on hold should an employee not show up or is on vacation. Odor in the hallways is becoming a more frequent event. Meals are uninspired (due to a small budget no doubt). 3 manager changes so far. Despite these short comings, Brookdale announced a price increase of +$242/mo for Mother's room starting in 2016! If my Mother didn't get so anxious about change, I'd find another place, stat.

Brookdale at Parmer Lane has been our only experience with assisted living facilities. On paper this "community" offered services that met the needs we were looking for. Six months into my folks residency here, our family has not had a very positive experience. Basic services such as cleaning and laundry are inconsistent. Communication within the building is poor, staff is not always on the same page. Parmer Lane is understaffed. Although they have been willing to address any issue when brought before them, problems continue to arise. It is not my responsibility to supervise the staff, leadership here is lacking. Don't buy into Brookdale's promise, attempts to address concerns above the executive director have been futile. Regional representative responded to "family line" report one week later, unable to meet due to vacation and business trip (two week lapse). Just shows Brookdale doesn't "walk the talk". Relocating is the only option left.
