I Visited This Facility

I visited The Belmont Village and I happened to be there when they were having an activity going on and it was very fun. It was almost rowdy. It looked like a lot of people were involved and that was nice. However, the way the apartments were set up wasn't ideal for my dad because of mobility issues. The rooms were a little bit larger and definitely it would not be easy for my dad to get around. The people know one another. The staff spoke to all of the residents by first and last name. It was a good group.

The property is established near the Medical Center and the West community area. As you arrive, the appearance is of a large estate and the feeling of elegance. The staff are friendly and willing to meet your needs as a visitor and resident. The environment is filled with activity with staff and volunteers who partner with the community in bringing variety to the residents lives. The décor is light and appealing to the eye and gives a feeling of warmth. The staff are professional and appear to be attentive to the residents during my tour. This property is a great asset to the West Houston Community.

The location of this facility is a major plus, they are local in the medical center. Which gives me an extra cushion of safety while my Aunt stays here. The employees make everyone feel welcomed. They make it feel like home... made me want to stay there myself. The place is very nicely decorated. I am big on decorations I notice every little thing.

I visited Belmont Village at West University while searching for a facility for my aunt. The facility is located near the medical center which is a plus. It is in a high traffic area, but I was happy that my aunt would be close to medical specialists if she needed assistance. Upon entering the facility, I was greeted by a staff member who was friendly and helpful. My initial impression of the facility was that it was clean and well maintained. I was able to have someone provide a tour for me, and I was treated with respect. Locating a long term facility for a loved one is never easy. The staff here made sure they provided as much information for our family as possible while giving us time to view the information and not feel obligated to make a "quick" decision. This facility has everything. It is very organized, and they provide activities for the residents. They have Activity personnel and staff that make sure residents are engaged. I think that it is important to make sure during your tour that you notify the personnel of your family member's special interest to see if they can accommodate. I feel that it is very important to ask about activities because a lack of activities for your loved one may result in a decreased morale. I was a caregiver for a long period of time. Therefore, I know what to look for to see if the facility genuinely cares about the resident or if the facility is only there to meet the minimum requirements. This facility is one of the better ones, and they appear to maximize the resident's living experience as much as possible. I do feel that a few of the staff members could have been friendlier as I passed them in the hallway, etc. There is no perfect place so it is important that families choose a facility that doesn't treat your loved one like a number, but like the valuable human being they are. Belmont Village at West University is a nice facility. I did not give five stars because I feel that slight improvement can be made in each area. However, this facility is willing to make the necessary changes so that your loved one would feel at home.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

Our mother has resided at Belmont Village for four years, first in Assisted Living and now in The Neighborhood (memory care). The management team has helped us determine her best care plan as she has aged and her needs have increased. The caregivers and nurses are excellent, we have great confidence in their compassion and expertise. We are pleased that we chose Belmont Village after considering many options, and we value our ongoing trust and confidence in the care they provide to our mother.

Description of Belmont Village West University

When Belmont Village West University in Houston, Texas opened its doors in November 1998, it was the realization of three years of careful planning to create a higher standard in assisted living. As our company's first facility, it became the inspiration for the successful development of sister communities throughout the United States. True to its roots, our Houston flagship celebrates the vision of our company each day and continues to be shaped by the assisted living residents who call Belmont Village home.

Now a familiar landmark along Holcombe Boulevard, Belmont Village is ideally situated in the prime West University residential area near shopping, restaurants, places of worship, and the renowned Texas Medical Center. Mature landscaping and generous grounds provide a variety of outdoor amenities including a swimming pool, putting green, gazebos, and walking paths. Inside, residents enjoy Belmont's distinctive interiors and signature programs in hospitality, dining and activities. Those with support needs benefit from one of the best-trained, most responsive staffs in assisted living.
