I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

We found Morningview for my father-in-law, and he moved in a month ago. It's very welcoming. The staff is very friendly, competent, and very comfortable sharing information about the care of the residents. He likes the food, which comes in moderate portions.

Morningview seemed nice, it was very clean, and the residents I spoke to seemed happy. It was a little bit more expensive, but it was second choice. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and able to answer my questions. The rooms were nice; they had a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom apartment.

We loved Morningview at Irving Park. It was just a little out of my dad's price range. It was absolutely beautiful and smelled wonderful walking in. All the amenities, like the courtyard, was absolutely beautiful. The staff was fabulous and very informative. The rooms were very spacious and nice. They had a chef on staff. One of the things that I like about them is that they come at 10:00 or 11:00 to have breakfast. They work around your schedule.

We didn't like Morningview it as much. The entrance was just OK. They had some flowers when you first walked in, the front desk right there, and a water cooler for drinks. It didn't have that homey, comfortable atmosphere. When we took the tour, I didn't see that many residents walking in the halls or outside. The eating area did not look appealing. They had different tablecloths and nothing matched. The people didn't look happy nor were they smiling. They just looked really depressed. The people weren't talking, just sitting there and eating. The rooms weren't very good either. They were very bland, the carpet didn't look very good, and the furniture that they had in there for the residents for the respite care looked like some old twin bed and an old dresser. It just looked very depressing. I didn't see that many workers walking around and assisting people. There was one resident who was going to get in the elevator as we were getting in the elevator, and she said to the lady who was giving us the tour, "I don't know where to go," and she had this paper in her hand and the lady who was giving us the tour said, "We don't have any activities for two more hours." The resident was like, "What am I supposed to do?" and then she started crying and she's like, "I don't know where to go. I don't know what I'm supposed to do now." The lady said, "Well, you just need to go to your room and wait." I was almost in tears and my kids are with me and they're like, "Mommy, we need to take that lady out to eat. She has nothing to do for two hours." When we left, we were really sad. It wasn't dirty and it didn't look like anybody was being abused, but it wasn't a place where I would put family.

We visited Morningview at Irving Park. The rooms were fine. Everything was fine. It was like living in a hotel. I saw a one-bedroom. The dining area was fine, set up like a cafeteria. The people seemed nice and answered my questions. It's in a nice area.

The person who took me on the tour at Morningview Irving Park was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable about everything there, so I had a good experience. Everything looked so nice and clean, and it seemed like everybody respected each other in their own space. They showed me one room that looked very nice and like something that I could send my husband or anyone into, and they would be comfortable and secure. They were very accommodating, so I was pleased with that.
