I Visited This Facility
I toured Brookdale Cary myself and then I brought my mom there. I was trying to get respite care last fall when I was going to the beach, which I did several months in advance. It's a beautiful facility and the people were extremely friendly. Everybody came out of their office to greet me, to find out my needs, and find out about my mom. It's very wonderful. All the residents were out and active. It was a lovely facility, but awfully expensive. I felt very good about it. I brought my mom there on a tour, and she seemed to like it. However, the week I needed respite, they said they were not quite sure if they had an opening, but that they have two other facilities right in this area that I could go to. Everybody was out in this common area and were engaged. They were singing, doing balloon toss, and playing games. They were very active. It's a beautiful new facility and just gorgeous. I felt good walking in there. I felt my mom would've been safe and cared for there. The staff was very nice and everybody there was really nice.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
Brookdale Cary was a nice place, but my father-in-law's level of care was too high for that facility. It's clean and it's nice, but it was not for him. When you walk in, it's almost like a little town. They are memory care so they have things locked down. The only downside is you have to ring a bell to get in and also you have to have someone watch you leave. They're obviously taking care of the residents, so sometimes you have to wait for a while to get in and sometimes you have to take them away from working with someone to let you out. But otherwise, it's a nice facility. The food looked fine. It's a nice facility, it's just I never really saw a lot of activities going on with the residents. They would play music, but that was the only activity I ever saw. There weren't as many people helping that I saw, or maybe it's because of the way the facility was divided.
