I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

Both of my parents are at the Lighthouse. Dad has had 4 strokes, his mind is good but needs some physical assistance. Mom has Alzheimer's but does not need assistance yet. They have been married for 60 years and it is wonderful that they are still living in the same apartment. Dad is getting wonderful care. We know that mom will eventually need to be in memory care which will be emotionally tough for both of them. The good news is, memory care will be just down the hall. The staff is very kind and loving to my parents and our family. We fill very blessed to have our parents at the Lighthouse of Waconia. more

My mother has been in the Lighthouse for three years. I feel she is well cared for and is very happy. The staff is very friendly with the residents and always calls them by name and asks how they are doing. They keep the residents busy with activities and outings. It is a nice facility for family and friends to visit and participate in their daily lives.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

I have collaborated with many families to move them in to The Lighthouse of Waconia. The staff has always been very helpful and welcoming to my own staff and the new resident and their families. The public spaces are well planned and designed. The residents homes are always clean with everything in working order from the first day the resident moves in. From the parking lot, to the gardens, to the garage spaces, to craft rooms, dining rooms, pool therapy, cafe, game rooms and corridors - all spaces have consistently been immaculate, well lit, safe and welcoming. Finding my way through the community has been logical and easy - another indication of the well thought out design.

I Visited This Community

I had the privilege of getting a tour of the lighthouse of Waconia and I have to say even with my being jaded because I am in the industry I was pleasantly surprised. Many of the residents were engaged in activities that were a little more out of the box and seemed more fulfilling than ones I have seen at other residences. The employees were actively engaged and you could tell they knew the residents well and cared for them. The reason I was most impressed was the Staff's genuine excitement and knowledge of their 4 pillars of living life on purpose program. The brochure is still with me today because I try to apply it to my own life. Everyone i came in contact with honored Betty's story and how the lighthouse even came about. I encourage you to read it on their website.

Beautiful architecture and spacious living space. The residence offers private accommodations to residents in a secluded location. However, the management is very poor and gives staff members minimal attention. When staff members call in sick for work, they are forced to come in due to the short-staff. Residents are in turn treated poorly because management treats employees in a neglectful manner. Residents are exposed to airborne illness and employee-related diseases. Staff members are poorly trained and fired without notice.
