I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My dad moved into Homelife in the Gardens last week, and everything seems to be going pretty well. I was very impressed. They serve three meals a day, and do laundry and housekeeping once a week. They had bingo, a jazz band, and my sister was able to get her hair done. Everybody took time to greet us, and they went above and beyond to make sure my father and sister were taken care of. The value was comparable to the others.

I thought the location of HomeLife in the Gardens was good, but the facilities weren't as good. They were old, rundown, and not updated. The only thing I did like was the location because it was right in New Orleans. I would go somewhere nicer. The staff members were very nice, kind, and generous. They had some activities. The dining area looked OK, but the the building and everything was old. It wasn't that nice. Everyone seemed happy. It was run OK, but it's old.

I toured here after touring the other two places uptown and this place was by far the BEST!!!! The staff and the food and the amenities can't be beat! Plus, the new Director actually came from one of the places that we toured uptown so it can't be beat. We wouldn't move anywhere else if you paid us.

I liked the atmosphere, location, and layout of Homelife. I didn’t think it was overly expensive. The food seemed to be good. They had movies and bingo. I liked that they had a religious background and mass, and the staff seemed to be very friendly and concerned about the residents.

I placed my father in HomeLife in the Gardens. I was very pleased with the interaction with the people. The food was very good. It's a very clean community and the people are very helpful. They're very easy to work with. The room is nice. It has a queen-sized bed, a dresser, 2 nightstands, a recliner, and a TV. It's ample and has a refrigerator. It's just what he needs. He doesn't need any more than that. The dining room is very clean, and they serve everything on plates and glasses. They have a movie room, a chapel, and bring the patients to different activities in New Orleans, like Cafe Du Monde, and shopping twice a week, either at a drugstore or Walmart, and then they also offer to bring you to and from your doctor on designated days. I am very pleased with them. It's in my price range and I like the location. It's not super big so it's more of a homey feel.

I didn’t get a good feeling at HomeLife in the Gardens. The rooms and the apartments were small with small windows, so it was dark. HomeLife in the Gardens would not be some place I want to be living in. They did have some amenities, but they weren’t as nice as some of the others that I went to visit.

We saw Homelife in the Gardens and did not like it at all. It was old, large, and just not very accommodating. It wasn’t an aesthetically pleasing place, and it felt old and very institutional, although it was fairly well maintained. They were having a Mardi Gras ball at that time of our visit. Their dining area was like a cafeteria.
