I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
If your loved one requires medical care ie, Insulin, B12, heart meds, or just general every day medical care, this is NOT the place for them. There is NO round the clock nursing care in the Alzheimer's unit, so if your loved one gets sick, they just get sick. My mother rapidly deteriorated in this unit, as no one called her own doctor in SIX months. We were told a Dr. from the clinic would see her weekly, and as she just rapidly progressed into failing health, we finally found out NO DOCTOR HAD SEEN HER FOR OVER FOUR MONTHS and she has heart disease and diabetes and neuropathy. Can you imagine? The one staff "nurse" only works in the daytime, and there is no RN coverage at night or on weekends. VERY SCARY. My mother degenerated here.....150# in DEC. by June she weighed under 100#. They failed to feed her correctly, and they failed to call a medical doctor. Just unbelievable. They called the family and asked US to bring in her medicines, to bring in her adult diapers, to bring in her Glucerna (which she was all she was living on in the end) her mouthwash, her toothpaste, etc. They called us to provide everything, even hangers in the closets. We paid over $8,000/month, and they are an Alzheimers unit, you would think they would have the supplies included, or at a reduced rate. Money Money Money is what it is all about. The actual facility is clean and looks good, but I hated what went on behind those closed doors. We told them to call us when my mother was in a coma and in danger of passing away, but NO ONE called us,.so she died all by herself in a coma in a crappy hospital bed WE HAD TO PAY FOR. The so called Hospice RN wasn't even there, even though she "promised" she would be. My mother was left with a "temporary" person with no credentials, no medical experience, and no knowledge of who my Mother was or what was going on with her. We did not receive ONE lousy phone call or a card from anyone at Clare Bridge until WELL over a month had passed and then we received a sympathy card signed by people who we didn't even know, and I am sure they didn't even know my Mother. The place gives me nightmares, I cannot and will not recommend it. No one knows what the other person is doing around there.......we left specific instructions on who to call, and they screwed that up every time. They sent her to the beauty shop when we told them not to. I found her on the floor one day, and the aid who was supposed to be watching her that morning, saw my son and I picking my Mom up off the floor, and the aid had the gall to say "oh, ya, I saw her down there on the floor, but I thought she was looking for something!" AN 87 YEAR OLD WOMAN ON THE FLOOR AND YOU DON'T RUSH IN TO HELP HER? AND SHE NEVER DID OFFER ASSISTANCE!!! My god, what kind of place is this? They look so good on the outside, lots of activities, lots of talk about how great they are, lots of things to do......but if you look carefully, most folks are just sitting around like caged birds. It's a deplorable place I will NOT recommend.
