Washington Commons was very clean, neat, modern, and bright. It's wonderful. The nice staff showed me around. It looked like there would be entertainment to bring people together. They had a chapel and a library.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My father is currently at Washington Commons. I'm having trouble with them right now, but overall, it's a great place. They feed the residents. It has a restaurant type environment where they get breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also clean the rooms every Monday and the apartments are very nice. Most of the staff members are really good. I am having trouble with him because he has Alzheimer's, but he is very independent. When they're down there for meals, he gets up and talks to people at other tables and the management wants him to sit in his seat and not get up to talk to anybody else. Yesterday, he got up to get some coffee and walked through the middle of the tables and apparently the manager came up behind him and talked to him as if he were a child. He has done it before and he just jokes with him and lets it go, but yesterday the manager came up behind him when he was getting coffee and told him to sit down. He was told to walk on the outside and not walk through the middle of the tables. He's a 75-year-old ex-military sergeant from the Army and he said, "I'll walk wherever I want." The manager got very upset about it. They do not understand Alzheimer's and short-term memory loss. For example, he'll ask where his beer is, but he hasn't drank beer in ten years, and they've asked me to tell him to stop asking that. I keep telling them I can tell him, but he won't remember because he has Alzheimer's. They're not equipped to deal with memory loss. Anybody that has memory problems should not go there. The food is good.

I Visited This Facility

I visited Washington Commons. I like that it's located way off from a busy street, it's somewhat hidden away and quiet. It's convenient too when it comes to grocery stores and those kinds of things. They're independent living but they also have access to information for assisted living if you need it. They serve three meals a day for the residents, and they gave me a list with activities that they can do, which is a lot. The person who gave me the tour was OK, although he's brand new to the community.

Washington Commons was very nice. The staff was full of knowledge and very caring. I enjoyed the visit. The facility location is nice and the grounds were kept up excellent. The facility is very clean and the rooms were nice and clean. They're very active with their seniors and their amenities were above and beyond. The price was very affordable for what you're getting compared to others.

I'm planning to move to Washington Commons. It was very nice, not upscale, but small for the price they're asking, and very expensive. The staff was very knowledgeable, showed us all the amenities, and treated us to lunch. The food was excellent. There was caroling, they played trivia during lunch, and they were going to a ball game that night. It was a very nice visit.

I liked the tour at Washington Commons. I would rather be at their cottages since it’s also less expensive than the main building. When you go to eat your meals, you have to cross the patio. If you can’t go to the building, they’ll bring your food to you. They have two plans; one increases along with everything else depending on how much time you spend there, or you can take a six-plan that starts at a price that’s a little higher but never goes up. I spoke to the people that have stayed there who said they enjoyed the meals.

Washington Commons was amazing. I was very impressed with the security, the grounds, the people who worked there, the rooms, amenities, and activities. They were in the process of establishing a garden out back, and that would be what my father-in-law would be interested in. I liked the atmosphere and the dining area. The room had a balcony where my father-in-law could put some plants. It was a perfect size for one person.
