I Visited This Facility
I would not put my relative at Habersham House. It was pretty bad. It was reasonably clean, and the layout was OK. It's mainly patient care, which is the problem. The person that showed us around was not well informed. She was an office person and she couldn't answer all of our questions. There wasn't anybody there that could really give us an appropriate tour, but we got to see enough. They have a dining area, but there was nobody eating. The regular residents were not out. They took us through a locked door which was the dementia area. The dementia residents were separate from the regular residents. It was bad, with people sitting in chairs wearing dirty clothes. There was a smell of urine, and they had uncombed hair. They were all sitting out of their rooms, in the main area, with no evidence of food being served or previously served, and it was 12:00. There were only one or two caretakers working in the ward and there must have been at least 30 dementia patients sitting around. There were no bathing facilities in the rooms, only a toilet. They had a communal shower and it was dirty. I would rate the dementia unit a one.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
My mom has been at Habersham House for a month and she's there for assisted living. The community is nice, but it's several years old. It could use a little updating as far as décor goes and could also use some freshening up. There's a nice screened-in porch that they don't seem to use at all except maybe for some storage. The staff seems to be very caring and attentive. Some of the aides are more engaged than the others. The food is quite good and I am pleasantly surprised with it. All in all, I think the place is fine. The activities probably is the area where they may be lacking a little bit. They had a watermelon social this week and they built their own sundaes one evening. I don't think they really have much selection anymore because they seem to watch the same couple of movies over and over again, or sometimes they just kind of don't do anything, so that was a little disappointing. I understand that someone would come in to play music, but sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't. If I lived there, I probably wouldn’t be interested in doing the activities either. Usually after dinner, there's a little group that sits around in the lobby and chat with each other for the evening. There doesn't seem to be much going on after 6:00. Overall, it's fine and the value is good.

I Visited This Community
Habersham House was a great place to visit and really well maintained. They had an activity room and a game room. It was a really good tour. Overall, I was pleased with the facility. The rooms were great, wonderful, roomy, and well maintained. You could bring your own furniture if you want to. It's really nice. If it had been a hotel, it's a 5-star facility. I would highly recommend them. It's a beautiful facility with caring staff. They're really thrilled to have visitors and new people. It's a great place.
