I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My parents moved into Bonaventure shortly after it opened. The food is downright horrible and the staff turnover is frequent. My mother passed away and we have tried to get our father to move with no luck. Old people don't like change- it is very traumatic for them. I wouldn't recommend this facility to my worst enemy. The staff and directors make a lot of promises but never deliver. KEEP LOOKING

I Am A Current/Past Resident

I am currently a resident at Bonaventure of Castle Rock. I like all the people who live here! The staff is wonderful too! I like everyone from Donna (Director) down to the activities people (Kelina & Aimee) to the kitchen staff (Mike the chief and Jade the cook) to all the waiters (too many to name). I really like (Melissa) my room cleaner. They all work hard to make my life better. Anything I need, they get it for me. SUPER!

The staff here at Bonaventure is the best. Service is five star. Residents make us feel like we are one big happy family. We are so thankful our children found this place. Our chef is gourmet in every way. He listens to our needs and the food is great. I think the staff and residents are the best people on earth.

My parents have lived here for almost 15 months. During that time we have tried over and over again to get someone to listen regarding the food service, cleaning service, safety concerns. But to no avail will anyone listen. The company is "micro managed and will not let anyone try and do what is best for the resident. If you go and check out the State Department reviews, along with the Tri-county health dept. www.tchd.org will find everything you need to know not to move your loved one to this facility. It is beautiful, wonderful people who live here, but that is the extent of it. They are long on promises, lots of "lip service", but nothing ever changes. Run as fast as you can from this place.

Our loved one has lived at Bonaventure for 1.5 yrs. The food is despicable. The Health Dept. ratings are terrible. The turnover of staff is exceedingly high. The owner and upper management are unresponsive to valid complaints from family members of the residents. We were told if our mother didn't like it, she could move. Moving is not the answer for elderly people who value their friendships and the familiarity of their home setting so we continue to pursue results from management.

Don't let the facade fool you. Over 100% employee turn-over every year plus 20 "chefs" have left in less than two years. Over 20 county/state health inspections in 2014 alone. Food is terrible, many items never available, and zero leadership. Mgt. will make you every promise but none ever kept. If it were not for the building itself, one star would be too many. RUN AWAY and FAST.

I have a relative living here since it opened. The food is so bad I wouldnt feed it to a dog. They have had over 15 chefs so far. They fire or force out the people who truly care for the seniors because the on site management feels threatened by them. There are no real "activities" anymore since the former Activities Director left. Residents are served food on dirty plates. You have people with Alzeimers roaming the hallways ,Ive had to escort a few back to their rooms myself and was chastized for doing so.Upper management totally ignores all these issues. Its not about the people here at all ,its all about the almighty dollar.

My in laws moved in in late '12 lured by the incentives and wonderful new facility. Now, 15 months later regret it. After 7+ chefs food remains terrible and staff owners continue to ignore the issue. Long on promise; short on action. Constantly run out of routine food items and turn-over is rampant. The one good employee, social director, just left in Jan. '14...AVOID this place!

I Visited This Community

Our visit gave a good first impression with the physical building. It is quite large . . . a bit too large for us . . . felt institutional rather than personal or "family." The staff seemed like they wanted to help, but were a bit out of their depth. Left lots of questions unanswered. We didn't sample the food. But one resident (who was evacuating the room we were considering) didn't have good things to say about it; that's hearsay only. In the end, it wasn't a good fit for us. But I emphasize that we did not stay--only visited. The residents have the best perspective, I suppose.
