I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

I have to echo the concerns of the other reviews I have seen on this site. The tour was great, and the food started out being very good. Recently, the care level, the most important part, has declined very dramatically. Specifically, a few weeks ago, my Dad was sitting in his chair. A nurse and two staff members were attempting to get him to stand by pulling on his arms and his chest. With his Alzheimers, he became fearful and resisted which caused them to pull harder. Thankfully, we walked in about that time and told them to leave. We spoke softly to my Dad for a few moments, and he stood and walked to the dining room. We registered our complaint with management telling them this was an inappropriate way to handle an Alzheimers patient. She agreed, but as far as we know, nothing more was done. We also requested that the nurse's access to my Dad be restricted. Recently, my Dad has become more unresponsive. Yesterday, he wasn't responding to verbal requests so he was given Ativan, which made him more unresponsive. His heart rate and blood pressure dropped. I am concerned for his health and well-being under the care of people like this. I am attempting to move him to another facility and will be filing complaints with the state licensing authority.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

I would like to say the staff tries...when they are present. There have been more than several times I(family member)have been ALONE in the room alone with more than 10 residents...no staff present. Other times a caretaker will sit in the room with no contact or interaction with residents....she is just there to babysit. Then there are the times when there are an abundance of caretakers...that's when you know there is a tour coming! Activities: are minimal at best. There are a few days when the activities are amazing and will include many smiling and laughing faces, but most days they sit at tables and read or do math (with most residents sleeping through this activity). Other days are not worth mentioning. To be sure, activities are not important to this facility. This is a good facility if your loved one still is very capable of taking care of themselves and does not need much help at all...basically a place for them to have a room and good meals. They do give an amazing tour, but recently so many people I have talked to are moving out because of the lack of care (physical, mental and emotional). It is a wonderful building, nice grounds, nice neighborhood. I really hope they improve the actual care soon.

There have been a few situations that have happened that determined my selection. Staff not present at times, or standing around. Activities, some residents sleeping or just not interested in what was being done, but nothing being done about that. Food, seems fine, our family member eats most everything served. Quality of care, well too many times we are told "they don't know what happened" or "dont know who got our loved ready. Have found the room in need of some attention, just feel a better job could be done. Facility is nice, but again there are things that do need attention. They did just recently get a new director, so we are hoping things will "shape up".
