We visited Sunrise of Walnut Creek. The people were nice. It was OK. It was relatively convenient, not right nearby us, but not too far. The staff seemed nice. The facility looked clean. The woman who showed us around was very informative and showed me the room that was available. My husband is tall so he needs a long bed, and it looked OK. They take care of housekeeping and food, but you have to bring your own furnishings. There were some people doing some crafts when we visited and there was a TV.

We took my mother out of Sunrise of Walnut Creek because she was declining there. She couldn't even get out of bed the last time I saw her. She wasn't even that sick when she went in. Her original condition was cured, but she declined because of neglect. Sunrise is a good place in a lot of ways, but my Mom was an extraordinarily difficult person. The food was excellent. The facility was nice. There were definitely some really wonderful staff there. They offered a lot of activities, like bingo, arts and crafts, movie nights, walking, and chair exercise. They had someone who did their hair and nails, and had a dog there, so they can have their pets, which was nice. They had religious services with music and went on field trips once in a while. They walked around the building every day. Transportation was inconvenient because you had to schedule your doctors' appointments on Tuesdays and some other day, otherwise we had to pay a service to drive her there. The staff checked in from time to time. My mom was paying the top tier, so she should have had help every time she went to the bathroom. She pushed the button and it took them a long time, but there were other patients and she may have pushed it a lot. No one told us that she stopped drinking and stopped eating.

Sunrise of Walnut Creek was a very friendly place, but it's not a good place for couples. It's more geared to single people because it had smaller rooms and smaller living quarters. I was very impressed with the staff. The menu was very good. They didn't have as many activities, but the activities that they had would appeal to folks over 80 or 90 years old. The rooms were smaller, but they personalize them nicely for everybody. The common areas were very nice, but if you were a couple that wanted to spend time in your room and in the common areas, it would be cramped.

Sunrise of Walnut Creek is a nice, relatively small senior community. They have 60 assisted living units and 19 memory care units, all single occupancy. Each unit has a small fridge, but residents are asked to bring their own microwaves. They have nice gathering areas, a nice courtyard, and a bistro for snacks throughout the day. They also have an on-site beauty salon and 2 hydro tubs for residents' uses. They are pet friendly and their is no charge unless the resident needs their pet cared for. They also have daily exercise classes, nightly movies, and weekly excursions. In addition, they are very conveniently located to two hospitals, satellite medical offices, and mere steps from Doctors' Park, which makes accessibility to going to the doctor extremely convenient. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and outgoing. It is a very clean and peaceful environment for its residents.

An amazing Assisted Living community; Walnut Creek has several, but this one has been fantastic for my mom! The staff is friendly, the managers attentive, and the community is very clean. It didn't take long after walking in that this was the right place for my mom. We struggled trying to locate something that was "just right," somewhat like the story of the 3 bears - others were too big while a few were just too small. This community fit what we were looking for and what our mom needed. Best decision we could have made and our mom is happy as are we!
