I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My mother is in Rock Spring. They play bingo, pinochle, Canasta, and golf, and there's a beautiful library. You sit down to be served every meal. I don't have any complaints. The staff is fine and attentive most of the time. They no longer have a manager on-site 24/7. All of the residents have an emergency medical alarm button that they hang around their neck for an emergency.

I Visited This Facility

Rock Spring was my favorite of the four I visited. The rooms were nice. Upstairs, they had balconies, and downstairs, they had patios, so you could get some fresh air and go outside. That's really important to me because I always like going to my back patio. I thought the common area was a little nicer than the others. One thing that they didn't have though was round-the-clock nursing. That was a minus for them because I have problems with balance. They have contracted two companies that come in and do their assisted living part for them. The staff was good. The one lady who took us around was very informative. They offered us lunch, but we didn't eat lunch there. They had a lovely dining room. It had the best transportation. They had a bus to doctors' appointments, and they would have shopping days like to the Wal-Mart. When you move in there, they charge you a $3,000 for move-in fee, but then everything's new, and they put new carpet and new paint. It was like moving into a new place, which meant a lot to me.

The staff at Rock Spring was very nice. It wasn't quite as luxurious as other facilities, but there were a lot of activities. They have a bus that takes you to doctors' appointments and things like that. The rooms were a little smaller and not quite as nice, but they were nice. The meals were 9:00 breakfast, 12:00 lunch; I don't know what time dinner was. They had several hundred people in there. I've never seen so many walkers lined up on four walls in my whole life. There didn't seem to be as much flexibility as far as what you're doing at a certain time and meals. We got there at lunchtime, so we got to see the food, and it did not look quite as appetizing. They didn't have a salad bar and you really didn't have much choice.

Rock Spring was amazing, clean, and wel -kept. It looked like they had activities going on. My daughter and I both went along with mom, and we were impressed. It was very nice and I have nothing bad to say about it at all; everything was nice. We ate lunch there and the food was good. If I do see any other places, they'll have to measure up to Rock Spring or be better. The staff all seemed very friendly and nice, and I don't have any complaints. There's no pool, but I saw a library and a beauty salon.

The people at Rock Spring were very nice. We liked it a lot. The dining room was clean, bright, and the food looked very good and included fresh salads. The people seemed to be very pleased with the service they were getting. We really liked what we saw in their schedule of activities. This place was our top choice, especially on the basis of price.

The staff at Rock Spring was excellent and welcoming. I liked the facility itself, and the rooms were nice. I believe they served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and had exercise classes, games and activities inside. The food was very good, too.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

It looks very nice and sunny, but my experience for my parents is not sunny. All that glitters is definitely not gold here. The security is nonexistent. No security cameras. On one occasion, someone entered my parents' apartment because he was given the wrong apartment number by the co-manager. The co-manager apologized, but it demonstrates a laxness. On another occasion, someone tried to enter into my parents' apartment at 11PM. The only reason my parents knew was because they had put an alarm on the door. A manager was called when this happened, and he said that he could see no one in the halls - thereby dismissing my parents' complaint. The manager then cautioned residents the next day that they have to keep their doors locked. Rock Springs definitely needs security cameras, because then they could see, and prove, what actually happened at 11PM. My parents could not stay there after this incident, because they felt too fearful. Also, there is a lot of gossip in this place. The managers told me it can take 3 months for a resident to feel comfortable - and some never do. I personally talked to several people who were very sad to be here. Oh, I did take inventory of the things I moved into my parents apartment, and compared it to the inventory of what was there to be moved out when they left. And there were definitely things missing - an expensive radio, a watch, a dictionary. Consider that the following all have keys: managers, housekeeping, maintenance. And read the contract over carefully. It is very ambiguous in places - they have a legal staff, so this must be purposeful in their favor.
