Owned by uncaring large company, unresponsive to phone calls, questions, complaints. Biggest issue is that they raise the rent every year without giving anything more to residents. Executive director is useless. Activities director dishonest and can't manage to keep activities staffed.
Looking for a new place. Food is so-so.

This community was formerly called Carmichael Oaks before it was managed by Atria. This property is located right off of busy Fair Oaks Blvd. in Carmichael on 5 1/2 acres adjacent to a greenbelt area. The property is not very attractive from the road, but as you drive to the back of the facility where there is parking, you get a better feel for the park like setting among the oak trees. The building has been added on to, so the newer front section is attractive, but the rooms in the older area have low ceilings and low light. There are 81 assisted living apartments and capacity for 17 Memory Care residents. The food is very good with many tasty options. A skilled nursing center is located just across the front parking lot called Carmichael Care so it can be confused for Carmichael Oaks.

The caring staff, generous dining room, and comfortable living areas create a most welcome environment at this community. Activities are offered that meet the needs and desires of the residents and provide many opportunities for socializing and enjoyment. The grounds are exceptional where one can view a generous landscape of mature oak trees, winding paths and abundant wildlife.

I'm looking for a place for my Dad, so I went with my friend, Denise, to visit her Mom, who lives at Carm. Oaks. Her Mom hadn't wanted to go to independent or assisted living facility, but it was no longer safe for her to live alone. When I visited, she had been living there for 3-4 months, and I was AMAZED at not only her change in attitude, but in her level of alertness and being in the "here and now". The facilities were spotlessly clean, residents were engaged with each other, there was a long list of activities to choose from, there were plenty of places to just sit and read, if one wanted ... I was very impressed. Best of all, her Mom LOVES the place! She quickly made new friends, she isn't at all isolated, and her suite is large enough that her adult kids can stay overnight on the sofa-bed, rather than just visit for an hour or two. The additional engagement with other residents has also improved her awareness and "with-it-ness", to a noticeable degree. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and I didn't notice any traffic noise at all. I'm really hoping Dad will want to come take a look, because it's getting so he can't live alone much longer, either.
