I Visited This Facility

I didn't really think Woodland Palms was a good fit for my dad because he's still pretty active. I didn't feel like there was a whole lot for him to do there. The people were nice and it was a nice place. They were playing games in the lunchroom. They serve three meals a day. The lady that helped me tour the facility with my dad was good. Everybody was very polite and very nice.

Woodland Palms was convenient and the way it's laid out was really nice. The people that worked there were good and some of their facilities and activities were very good. They had quite a few activities the residents could do outside. They had a nice garden to walk in or just to go out and relax in. They had a physical therapist there that shows them exercises. They had a really nice kitchen. The facility was very clean.

We visited Woodland Palms. It looked OK. The person who assisted me was very informative. When we were there, they were eating lunch. The dining area looked nice. It was more like a restaurant. The room wasn't very big. With two people there, it would be pretty crowded.

The buildings themselves looked very nice, and the courtyard was wonderful, but the inside and bedrooms at Woodland Palms needed updating. I felt like they could do a better job with the activity rooms. They had a television room and dining area with an odd setup. I read a review that said it smells funny, but I didn’t notice that. It was clean, but the setup of the rooms seemed really odd. They should take all the interior walls down and rebuild it in a smarter way. The TV room had a funky, little sink area, so it must have been a room at one time that got switched into a television room. The people seemed really nice; it just had a funny feel to it. We were looking for a place where both my mother and my father could be. My father has dementia and my mother does not, so it wouldn’t be a place for her at all. I feel like it is not the place for people who still have their minds completely. It was a pretty nice facility. We had an appointment that we cancelled, then we just happened to be going by, and they were nice enough to give us a tour that day.

I Visited This Community

Woodland Palms is an Assisted Living and Memory Care community located in a great area of Tucson. Woodland Palms prides itself in being a very homey, cozy facility offering one-on-one individualized care while still offering the amenities, services, and opportunities of a large resort-like senior living community. They strive to offer the perks of a large community in a more intimate home-like setting – which is something I wish more communities would strive so hard to build. While the facility itself is not much too look at – you don’t have the luxurious lobby and extravagant dining hall of a large community, but it makes up for that with the loving and dignified quality of care and the family-like closeness. The residents all truly seem to enjoy living there. The activity schedule is always packed with fun things to do and the services and amenities make for a convenient and stress-free lifestyle. I hear many more compliments, then complaints from residents and their families – honestly, the compliment to complaint ratio that I have experienced at this facility is 20-to-1. If you visit this location, don’t judge a book by its cover – I know that some of the communities out there mimic 5-Star resorts – but it will greatly benefit you and your loved one to give this community the fighting chance it deserves. Really look at what the community has to offer, speak with the staff members, residents, and their family members, observe the daily happenings and the interaction between the residents and care team, really look at the community as a whole before crossing Woodland Palms off your list because with Woodlands Palms, there is so much more to the community than meets the eye. Give it the chance to win you over, because it will!
