Emerald Springs is very nice. I love it, and my sister loves it, but she's still waiting for a response about her accommodations. The place is clean and has a lot of activities and a nice environment with gardens. They play Bingo, and they have a swimming pool to swim in. The apartment is spacious, and the personnel are friendly. My sister likes the idea of ordering the food. It's a good place with good service.

Beginning with the first call from Julie we felt genuineness and sincerity with our needs and concerns. She is an exceptional lady. We came for tour and was impressed with the personnel. We spoke with the residents and listened to all of their comments. We watched and observed. We chose this community after researching several in different areas and states. The caregivers, medics, dining hall and front end personnel are very attentive to moms needs.( I don't have enough room to mention all of the names) I would rate this 4.8 star. I encountered 1 person that was unprofessional and the dining hall chairs were sticky. Mom says she likes everybody, the food and activities.

I visited Emerald Springs again just last month and I was very impressed by the positive changes I noticed that had taken place since my previous visit. While this used to be a community I would not recommend to anyone, I am beginning to quickly change my opinion. Here’s why… Facility: The facility has made a complete turnaround since gaining new management. What was once a filthy, stained, dusty mess had turned into a bright, open, and spacious area that was very welcoming. One of the first things I noticed was that I wasn’t sneezing – during my prior visit, there was so much dust everywhere that I could not stop sneezing, it was awful. However, now, the dust was gone and my allergies remained unscathed. Everything looked to be in good working order. I did not see any maintenance issues or safety concerns. The overall feel of the community was now inviting and I wasn’t counting the minutes until I could finally leave. This time around I was able to focus on connecting with the residents instead of being preoccupied with the condition of the facility. Residents: The residents seemed very comfortable and happy. One lady told me that she had moved in recently and that she felt so welcomed by the residents and staff from the very first day. She said that everyone has been so helpful in showing her the lay of the land. Staff/Quality of Care: The staff members made it a point to call the residents by name. They seemed committed to provided one-on-one care and they never seemed rushed when interacting with a resident. I was very impressed with the level of care and attention provided to the residents. Activities: They offer many events and activities that family members are encouraged to attend. There are also volunteer opportunities available to residents who like to contribute and keep busy. Food: The food always looks and smells delicious. There is a plethora of options to satisfy the palate each resident.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

Our mother has been at Emerald Springs for 3 years now, and it's her "home". She has a beautiful one bedroom apartment, with wonderful people taking care of her as she needs it. When she first arrived there, she was able to take care of her own physical needs, but we wanted someone else to control her medicines for her. Since then, she's needed more and more care, and as she needs it, they notice, and give it to her. They're now helping her shower and dress, making sure she changes clothes daily, and helping her get ready for bed. They noticed that she doesn't participate much in activities, so they make sure she gets out of her apartment and communicates with others by coming for her at meal times, so she avoids isolating herself. And their food, oh, I can't say enough about it; it's not the pablum we all think of when we think of "nursing home" food. They don't just have a cook, they have a chef! The meals always have salad and soup offered if you'd like it, besides the dinner which includes your main course along with vegetable. I enjoy eating there with her, more than I do some of our finest restaurants around Yuma. Junior's (the chef) chicken fried steak is better than Texas Roadhouse! If you don't like anything on the daily menu, you can ask for something else; as long as it's something a standard kitchen would have in stock, they'll fix it for you. And we love the fact that although there are mealtimes, you can come down to the dining room anytime between 7am and 6pm and have something to eat, or get a snack. Other places we looked at had "set" times you could eat, and if you missed those, too bad. If you have to ask for occasional changes in your loved ones care, be sure you repeat your request more than once. As staff changes for off time, we've found that things are not always documented when first requested, and are not always passed on to the incoming personnel. The only issue we've had that was ongoing for any length of time, was a problem with her laundry not being done when it should have been. It kept being skipped, and even when we called, it would be skipped again at the next scheduled date. Not a deal breaker, as it doesn't have a bearing on her personal care. Mom is shown nothing but the utmost kindness and respect, from the knock on her door before they enter, to the way they talk "to her", not over her, even though she has dementia, and can't always make her own decisions.
