I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
This is the worst assisted living facility I have ever seen and my friend has been in many over the years. Unfortunately if you are poor and on ACCHSS this is what you deal with. This place should be shut down. They have no call buttons for the residents so my friend has ended up on the floor for hours calling for help. Deplorable care. They have the minimal amount of care givers required and they are "do not care givers". It is very sad for these people and someone needs to help them.

I Am/Was A Resident Of This Facility
I think that desert sky needs more house keeping. I only see one girl upstairs and shr cant do all fifty something rooms and cleaning other areas that i noticed. They need 2 house keeping on top and on bottom if they wanna keep the facility clean. And tjat house keeper Carolina isnt good. I watch and she just talks with caregivers and doesnt clean dinning room right. But since newer caregiver..forget her name..lacinda came..shes been very helpful anf does a fantastic job on the dinning roon. Everyone always thanks her. Hopefully desert sky reads this!

I Visited This Facility
This place is deplorable. After walking through here, the only thing I saw was filth and a sense of uncleanliness (the dining area was absolutely disgusting), and it smelled of urine. The stench of the smell was horrific and I wondered why or how any tenant could live this way. While visiting, rooms were dirty, unkempt, and I found out they are supposed to be cleaned, however, told housekeeping hadn't been in for 3-4 weeks. I took pictures of one of the bathrooms and nearly got sick. The toilet was stained, bathtub had black mold of some kind and the bathroom was absolutely unsanitary. The bedding appeared dirty and had not been washed, the floor dusty and garbage strewn throughout. How can this assisted living center operate under the current conditions. There is a huge sense of responsibility that has not been held accountable. The tenants appear sad, one of the rooms when the woman opened the door, there was a very distinctive stench of urine and I cannot understand how any agency, who gets paid monthly, allow this to happen. It's as if they are robbing these elderly folks. Something needs to be done but I would share with you this; do NOT place your loved one in this facility. Trust me. There have been complaints filed and it appears as though there is no TLC in here.

This older, but well-kept facility is a 2-story structure, set back off of one street from a busy thoroughfare. The individual units have window awnings, which provide some protection from the sun, however there are no balconies for nicer weather. This visitor was able to see that several residents had homey decorations in their windows. The facility has 103 units, and ownership of the facility is shared by Bella Vista Rehab Center, which is attached to this building. The fountain courtyard in front creates a nice entrance; however there does not appear to be a great exterior area for walks or outdoor activities – all gravel, minimal landscaping and plants. The back parking lot did have a few old pieces of furniture and mattresses that need to be hauled away. Upon entering, I was pleasantly greeted by a receptionist, who answered my questions about size and ownership, and provided a card of the operations manager for additional questions. The lobby is a little stark, but clean. Overall, the friendly staff compensated for a bland facility.

I visited this facility for the first time and I was unsure of what I would find as I had been given a variety of reviews, both good and bad, from different people. From the moment I walked in I noticed how open and bright the facility was and it was super clean, but not uncomfortably so, where you feel afraid to move around because you might dirty it up. In fact, the environment was very welcoming. I took a quick tour and the whole facility is beautiful and very well designed for the elderly. They took many safety precautions throughout the building and that, to me, shows that they do their best to keep everyone safe. I loved how everything was set up, it was so user-friendly. The staff was very welcoming and I noticed that they called all of the residents by their names which shows me that they care by taking the time to learn everyone's name, and I could tell through their interaction that they were very loving and respectful of the residents. I talked to one lady who had lived their for quite some time, and she told me that she loves living at Desert Sky. She said that the staff really cares about her and caters to her needs. She said one week she was ill and because of this she had to miss her favorite weekly activity, arts and crafts. She said that she was in her room watching TV when on of the staff members came into her room with the materials needed for that weeks craft project and that together they sat together talking and making the craft. She said that it was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for her, and that she had so much fun that she almost forgot she was sick! I came into my visit at Desert Sky unsure of what I was going to find, and in the end what I found, is a wonderful and welcoming facility with a care team that is deeply committed to every resident.
