I Visited This Facility
I went to Brookdale. I liked their set-up. Their rooms were smaller. The staff member who helped me was very good. Their plans and activities were comparable. They were a lot higher priced for what you get. You're getting a smaller room and a lesser outside area.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
We chose Brookdale North Scottsdale because it fits my father-in-law's expectations, and we thought that it would provide the best care for him. So far, we have been very satisfied with the aides and the nursing staff. The people here are good and helpful, so he is getting better. It has all been very positive. He loves playing bingo and goes to the town meetings and music programs. My wife attends bingo with him every day. He seems to be in good health and getting along pretty well. We're fortunate with how he's doing now, and we hope he continues to be this way. They have a family day once a month, and we stayed for lunch one day. They have a standard menu and specials for the day. There's enough of a variety for him, and he loves the ice cream and the desserts. The bedrooms are large and have refrigerators and microwaves.

I Visited This Community
Brookdale North Scottsdale was clean. The man who interviewed us knew every single patient who lived there; I was impressed that he knew everybody. The apartments were nice. I liked that they had a lot of activities. The residents could eat any time they wanted to, which is not helpful for my mom because she forgets to eat. It would be better if there were specific times for meals, so she could be reminded that it is time for her to eat. It was more hotel-ish rather than homey, but it is a good alternative.

I Visited This Community
Brookdale North Scottsdale (which used to be known as Freedom Inn at Scottsdale) is a great Assisted Living community which also has a top-notch Memory Care facility. Pulling up, you would think the building is a resort or nice hotel – it is amazing! The staff members are always so welcoming and very helpful – always ready to show off the place! The residents always seem very happy. I very rarely hear complaints from the residents and when I do, it is typically something very minor that management, in turn, resolves promptly. The interior is nice. Nothing like you’d expect based on what the exterior looks like – the décor is very simple – it makes it more homelike – it just doesn’t match the impression you get looking at the bilding from the outside. I remember on my very first visit – I pulled up and saw the building and the landscape and I was like, “WOW!” Then I walked inside and my immediate reaction was something like, “huh?” I know what matters most is the quality of care provided, the happiness and safety of the residents, and exceptional staff members – all of which this community excels in – it’s just that you expect so much more walking in and then you do and it’s a bit of a disappointment and I KNOW that this is materialistic and petty – but it does matter to families, I have quite a few families comment on this. Who knows, now that Brookdale has come into play – I bet that this community gets a much needed Brookdale facelift (all of Brookdale’s properties are beautifully designed and decorated!) I want to be clear. The staff members at Brookdale North Scottsdale are amazing. They provide the utmost quality of care, dignity, and respect to each and every resident and the residents all seem to be very happy living there and that matters more than interior decorating any day,
