Brookdale Chandler Regional had all the amenities. The problem I had was that it's very expensive, but I liked it. They had Bingo, card games, all sort of movies, basically anything you wanted to do. The staff member was very good. She showed us everything that we needed to look at and answered all our questions. We had lunch there and it was good. It was very clean. They offer housekeeping and laundry service once a week. They have a hair salon for the women. My doctor is only a half mile away, but they have a bus service. They basically covered everything that we were looking for. The only problem I had was I'm a Veteran and I am looking for aid and attendance from the VA. That's the only thing that's holding me back from making my decision. They have three meals, plus anytime you want to eat during the day, they have it for you. I also liked the fact that Brookdale has a lot of places that you can choose from. You're not locked into Arizona. If you want to move to a different state, they have places there too.

Facility: I knew Brookdale Chandler Regional very well when it was still Horizon Bay, so I was anxious to go visit to see how, if anything, had changed since Brookdale took over. From the moment I stepped in the door, I could see that the facility was still just as wonderful as it always had been – the bright, open, and airy atmosphere had not at all changed and there was still that cozy feeling in the air that had always been there. The lobby is open and gorgeous with sky-high ceilings and neutral colors throughout. There is a large dining room that is nicely lit and very clean. They also offer a lovely private dining room for special family celebrations. The architecture throughout the facility is very cool – there is more to the design of the facility than straight walls and square windows. There are several common areas for the residents to gather and socialize. There is a cozy little library where residents can go for some peace and quiet, where they can read a book or newspaper, build puzzles or just relax. There is a lovely little chapel for religious services, which I really like. Some communities hold religious services in dining or activity areas, but Brookdale has made it possible for the residents who are no longer able to go off-site to church to enjoy services in a church-like setting. They also have a great little computer room that residents can utilize. For fun movie nights, there is a great theater that seats a large group of resident in a comfortable setting. They not only have a well-stocked activity room but they also have a very large activity area full of tables and enough space to hold large bingo games, house entertainment, and much more. They have an adorable and well-equipped salon that with multiple stations so that groups of ladies can enjoy the salon services Brookdale offers at the same time. There is also an awesome therapy room for rehab and recovery or just strength training. I believe that a certified physical therapist comes quite often or they have trained staff members onsite. The community offers studio and one-bedroom apartments – both options are spacious and well designed with large private bathrooms and ample natural light, however the one-bedrooms also offers an adorable kitchenette for the residents to prepare snacks and light meals in the comfort of their apartments. Residents: The residents always seem happy and well-cared for. I speak with them often during my visits. One thing they told me on my most recent visit was that the change from Horizon Bay to Brookdale went very smoothly. They say that they were not at all inconvenienced or bothered by the crossover and that the staff members made sure that any necessary changes did not affect the daily routines of the residents. Staff/Quality of Care: The staff members at Brookdale Chandler Regional are amazing. They provide exceptional care and they treat every resident as a valuable member of the family. They are very helpful and friendly and are always quick to answer any questions that I may have, never appearing annoyed by my line of questioning (and believe me, I ask A LOT of questions!). Activities: So many activities, outings, and events are scheduled month by month offering the residents enough time to adjust their schedules around the activities and events they choose to participate in. Food: Excellent food. I have been there for both breakfast and dinner. The kitchen staff is friendly, clean, and always on top of the residents needs and special diet regimens. They offer a variety of diverse and exciting menu options that satisfy.
