Description of Community Companions & Homemaking Services
Welcome to Community Companions! A private, not-for-profit agency, Community Companion & Homemaking Services (formerly Companions by Nancy and Hazel) provides in-home services to elderly and disabled individuals. The agency was founded by Nancy Trawick-Smith and Hazel Streams and incorporated in 1992 with the support of a Title III grant from the Eastern Connecticut Area Agency. The founding members originally coordinated the homemaker and companion programs of the Homemaker Home Health Aide Agency. In addition to offering quality, non-medical, in-home services, Community Companion & Homemaking Services strives to assist clients and their caregivers by providing advocacy, information and referral to appropriate resources and services.
