The Hearth at Glastonbury was beautiful. The gentleman that toured me around was very good, and knowledgeable. It was not a hard sell. He answered all my questions. It was a new facility; so everything is clean. I thought the room-size was good, and I liked the fact that they have a program every half hour, a cognitive stimulating activity, and then for a half hour they would do a more physically stimulating activity before slipping back to cognitive and physical. This is in the memory care unit. They're very limited with what they can do, but at least they're not just sitting there staring into space. They have a variety of activities. When I was there, no one was in their room. They were all in the common area with a staff member doing a cool activity with them, so that was good. The food, and the dining area was good. This is just the memory care facility that I am focused on. They got the same food as the other part of the facility, but obviously it's a locked unit. They're assisted more on feeding, but the food looked good to me.

The Hearth at Glastonbury was so formal and rigid. The staff was very good and seemed very happy, but it was a bit too much for me. You can do your own laundry and stuff, which was nice, and I thought that was a good thing. They were all very gracious and very nice. They all seemed very happy there, but there were a lot of rooms with people sitting there and looking out the windows in a daze, and I don’t want to become that person. The community is closer to our kids, though.

When April arrives, I will be celebrating my first year at The Hearth. I came to The Hearth because I have five doctors in Glastonbury. The Hearth bus is a tremendous help getting to appointments. Another plus is having the meals timed are they are. I am an early riser so breakfast at 7:30 is perfect for me. I enjoy things that stimulate my mind. I look forward to Think More, our poetry workshop and horticulture programs. It is so important to get out and participate in something. The staff are great. I enjoy living at the Hearth.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We are lucky to have you as part of our family here at The Hearth at Glastonbury. We strive to offer the very best in lifestyles and care, and are glad that you have had such a positive experience with us! Thanks again, Sandy Carlmark Executive Director
