I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

We chose Vista Village particularly because of cost. They're very compatible with my sister-in-law, and she's much happier after less than a week. She tells us that everyone is very nice and provide a lot of services that we couldn't have gotten through the previous facility, and they're doing it for $3,000 a month less. It's a very nice facility. They have things going on nearly every day like music, bingo and exercise. They're also very accepting of nearly everyone. It's a somewhat smaller environment. We're very happy with them.

Vista Village was OK. My mother was on respite, and you had to furnish your own room. She was in memory care, and they had some activities like music and mental stimulation. They served good food and had sitting areas outside. The caregivers varied. One of the girls said Mom had to be on the list to take a shower, and she said she'll make sure that she gets to shower. They never cleaned the bathroom and I was kind of upset about that. It's expensive for the amount of care that they give. The director, the people, and the nurses were really nice; I just had issues with certain caregivers. They took turns, and I noticed she was clean one week and then the next week not. The girls rotate every two weeks. There should be a little more organization with showering especially with seniors in the memory care because they can't do it themselves that's why they are there. As far as getting the seniors active, I was impressed with that. My mom got really close to the girls at Vista Village and when she left, they all cried because they got really attached to each other. It's locked down. You have to have a code to get in and out because the patients will escape. You have to be a staff member to get into the memory care center, which I liked because I was worried about her taking off. I sat with her when she was eating. They served soup first and then the main course and then coffee, drinks, or dessert. They were very attentive to their needs as far as eating. If somebody wanted more, they could get more.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

Vista Village Senior Living was a good place. Mom wasn’t very happy with it, but I felt confident she was being cared for really well. She would tell them she didn’t want to be checked on, but they would watch her take her medications. They had crafts, cooking classes, movies, singing, Bible studies, and history classes, but Mom didn’t participate in any of it. The food was wonderful. The staff had a lot of turnover, but they were trying and they did their best. Some of them were awfully young and some would go there to get some work experience, but I think that it's good they had enthusiasm. The staff that I met were personable and very sweet. Mom had help with housekeeping, medication coverage, and someone was supposed to stand by when she showered, but she refused that. It was a good place, especially for the value that we could get for Mom.

I Visited This Community

Vista Village has plenty of nice outdoor spaces for residents. There’s a greenhouse and places for residents to garden. The property on the inside is pretty clean and looks very up-to-date. The exterior of the building doesn’t look very modern, but the inside is actually much better than the outside. Besides the nice garden spaces there are also good seating areas for residents. As far the food, the food here is average. There’s nothing very spectacular about it.

My Mom has lived here for a year and a half. I feel very lucky to have found this place. The most important people who work here have all been great and no staff changes that I see. Food servers and helpers have change some, but most residents, like my Mom, would never notice. Money was an issue for me, and this place is one of the most affordable that I found. Besides affordability there is life here with people and staff walking around. Many places I visited I saw no one but staff. My Mom is happy and I can rest after years of taking care of her knowing she is in good hands. The director Charlie makes this place run smooth!

There seems to be a high turnover rate of caregivers/med techs. Food is improving. I pay for escort service for my mom & she doesn't always get it, inconsistent.
