The staff at Standiford Place is friendly and nice, so I like that. My parents' transition was easy. I like that there's a door to the inside of the community, plus a door to the outside, so they can come in and out even during Coronavirus time. The food is OK, but it's not great. They've only been in there since COVID-19 started so the guidelines are a little different, like they don't do anything at all. It seems like there was a lot of stuff planned for them, but everything has been restricted because of COVID for their safety. The staff is taking their duties really seriously, so I'm happy. I have been to other places and I definitely think this one has good value.
My mother is in Standiford Place. She has a studio apartment and it has a kitchenette and a refrigerator, but no stove. She has one of the smaller rooms, but they have rooms with bedrooms. They have a shuttle that she can reserve for free to take her to doctors' appointments and Target. They have three sit-down meals a day or you can order the food and deliver it to your room if necessary. They have scheduled activities pretty much every day like card games, bingo, art projects, and exercise classes. They have an in-house salon too. It's a pretty nice place for the price. The staff is great. We didn't have any furniture and they gave her the guest room for a couple of nights, which is all furnished. They're all nice to my mom. The food is good and they give them choices. They only have one elevator and that's an issue because it's a three-story structure. They plan outings, but there's not a lot of physical things.
Standiford Place was excellent, clean, and very accommodating. The dining room was very well set up. The rooms were very nice, and they had two-bedrooms and cottages. They had a library. They have very good access to the facility and good parking. The TV is available, all the utilities are there and they serve meals, so for an independent living person who doesnt want to live by themselves in their own house, it's excellent. The chef was very friendly and cooperative with the ladies that I was with, so it's very pleasant.
We had a pleasant visit at Standiford Place. We like it, but we are not ready to move quite yet. We didn't participate in any of the activities, but I know they have them there. I think that part of it was great. The apartments were clean and nice, and the food was good. The staff members were very good. I saw a beauty shop and a barbershop. They have several rooms that could be used for recreation. However, they only have one elevator. They probably need two.
