I really liked Brookdale Elk Grove. We were early and we were offered something to drink. The staff was very nice, very gracious, showed us around, the room that would be available for my husband, and other facilities. She offered to help us out in any way she could. I liked that there were lots of places to walk that were safe. He loves to walk and they have a Milers Club and you could get our mile in inside or outside. They have wonderful facilities for eating just like a restaurant and if you don't like what's on the menu, they get something else to your liking. I loved the rooms. They're spacious and the bathroom was very accessible shower wise. It's a walk-in shower with a padded bench seat. They have activities that take the residents to places of interest. They were going to take them to the State Fair. It was beautiful. There were little cottages and each cottage had rooms available. They're set up exactly the same way and they're all named after trees.
Brookdale was my favorite. It was excellent. Just the whole ambience of the place and the whole layout (you look out on a nice greenery) was just beautiful. You're not living in such a big building, but you're in little cluster of groups in your own building. They have a meeting area in the front with a fireplace and you can socialize there. I thought it was just great; I would want to live there. It would be my pick if I was looking, but it was not on top of my aunt's list. The staff members were absolutely wonderful. We had a meal that was superb. The food was very tasty. The grounds were nice. The facilities were nice too. The people that live there spoke freely with us and seemed to be very happy.
This community was one of the first Assisted Living options in the Elk Grove area. The design concept for cottages provides residents with the feeling of living in a home instead of a large apartment like dwelling. However residents may be exposed to the elements on the way to activities or the communal areas during inclement weather. Parking is sparse for visitors, but there is roadside parking nearby.
Brookdale Elk Grove (formerly Emeritus Laguna Creek) is an inviting community with separate cottages and front porch sitting in rocking chairs. The separate cottages give each resident a familiar neighborhood to navigate and feel like home. The cottages are grouped by the care needs of the residents so as an example residents with cognitive impairment are grouped together so their activities are customized to their needs. The staff are experienced, professional, helpful and genuinely care about their residents. The community is maintained very well and kept immaculately clean. They have so many fun activities and often include the community in the fun.
Moving mom to Emeritus was the best decision I have made regarding her care. I sleep well at night knowing she is in good hands! Thank you Emeritus staff.
