Aegis of Aptos is dedicated to providing the best in assisted living and memory care services. We are located close to the beautiful beaches of Monterey Bay, many fine shopping areas and our public library. Our Life’s Neighborhood program, run by our trained staff members, is specially designed for individuals who have Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.
Featured Amenities
While spending their time at Aegis of Aptos, residents have a wide variety of activities and events to enjoy. Some of our exercise programs that keep our residents active include chair yoga, stretching exercises and our walking club. Our garden area is perfect for enjoying sunny days with friends, and our central fireplace is warm and cozy for enjoying cooler days together. Our spacious community room hosts games and activities that also bring residents together. Our full time Activities Director schedules outings to local venues, and also brings live entertainment to our community.
Available Services
Meals are served daily in our formal dining room where we have breakfast specials featured every day, cooked-to-order choices, and many options to choose are available (on- and off-the-menu) for lunch and dinner. Tasty beverages and snacks are available at any time from the bistro. For visiting family and friends we
offer complimentary guest dining with an elegant private dining room, complete with fireplace and chandelier. Weekly housekeeping and linen services keep our residents’ rooms clean and fresh. When a resident needs an extra helping hand, one of our Care Managers will gladly assist them.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident
My father lived in the Alzheimers care unit for many months. I stayed w my mother nearby for 3 months and went to visit and help him at least 2X day. I saw much of what went on and I was not happy and neither was my 91 year old father. I would go in to see him and his face would be in his plate of food. He was paying more than $11,000. per month yet nobody was available to help him eat ! aand he lost a great deal of weight. We hired a private R.N. to go over all of his meds and had an M.D. come in also. Aegis had him so drugged he could not function, we changed that with no help from them. They left him sitting in his wheelchair if I wasn't there. It was terribly uncomfortable, I would have to chase someone down to help get him into his comfortable recliner in his room where he could look out the window or nap. I made sure he ate well. There were some residents who were quite mean but the staff did not care, other residents needed much more help than was provided. While I was there I found another place and got him moved out, he was infinitely happier at the new place. He never fell after that because he was cared for, not left on his own. No more ambulance rides to the hospital. No more abrasions. He ate home cooked food and gained weight. He was allowed to die a natural death with dignity, not rushed to a sterile hospital.
