Brookdale Apple Valley is right across from Target. There are about six restaurants right around there. They give you food, but Mom likes to go out for lunch and they're within where she could walk, which is about two to three blocks. The location was the best. She didn't care as much for the garden area where you can go outside and sit. It was a little too structured. It has waist high hedges that form little paved paths that you walk on, and you can't walk across the grass. If I were picking for myself, I would've liked the way they had the yard. They had little places to sit around and because of the way the hedges were, it gave you a little more privacy. They had studios and one bedrooms and they had little kitchenettes. The studios did not have an oven. She would prefer in general a one-bedroom just because of the separation of the sleeping and living areas. They have crafts, a hairdresser on-site, and they take them to doctors' visits.

Brookdale Apple Valley was beautiful. The décor was very pretty. The lobby was nice. The grounds were impeccable. It was also pet-friendly, which was something my sister wanted. They would not even consider my sister because she was not 65. My sister has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and she is on medication for that; however, because she is bipolar, they didn't want her. They let us know that right away. It is out of our price range anyway.

Brookdale Apple Valley was very nice and very clean. It was a beautiful community, and the people were extremely nice. The apartment was nice and clean. I like that they have a refrigerator and a stovetop. I also liked the bathroom because it was very accessible and had security bars. For the people who needs it and are capable of getting around well on their own, I thought their apartments would be great. I saw a nice library where they had games available. I was there during mealtime, and the food looked amazing. The dining room was large and very nice. I loved that they had a salad bar available. The lady who interviewed me was extremely nice. I also met the head of their health services and he was very outgoing, very nice, and very congenial. Brookdale Apple Valley was very nice; however, I decided against it for two reasons. One, it was too expensive; and two, I felt like the people there could do more on their own than our stepson can. I didn't think this community had the care that my stepson needed. He couldn't even have a hospital bed with rails on it; they didn't allow that.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My client is in Brookdale Apple Valley. I liked that it's clean, the people who work there are all nice, and it has a good location and activities for the old people. Overall, it's really nice, and the staff is excellent. They have some arts and crafts, games for the seniors, and a book club. They serve three meals a day and in the middle of the day, you can ask for some snacks if you're hungry. They provide the bus to take them to doctors' appointments. They give her assistance with bathing and, because she is on the second floor, they need to take her down to the dining three times a day. She can call them whenever she needs assistance in her room and with her medication. The staff is really nice. I can call them anytime when I want to ask about my client. They give a lot of information and help a lot.

Brookdale Apple Valley had an assisted living and 24-hour nursing which I liked, but it didn't have access outside from your room. You had to go down and choose a common area and out the door. I like being able to walk out of my apartment and be right there outside and this one didn't have that. I had eaten their food twice and it was very good. I took a friend there to show her. Their common area was nice. We went to see a performance where they had a singer come in. They served a glass of wine with the entertainment and that was really nice. They had quite a bit of games and things you can play. They also had a van that takes you to your doctors' appointments. The person that took us around for the tour was nice. The meal was excellent.
