We are very pleased with Quail Lodge. It's excellent. I'm 100% satisfied. They're very nice people, especially the main director. The food is excellent. I was very surprised because I assumed that this kind of place did not have a good chef, but this place in particular is very good. It is well run and well directed. It is very community-oriented. It is very clean and very safe. They have a good safety record. If something breaks down, they have two repair individuals on call all the time; I see them every day. Then there is a lady who does all the community events and she is fantastic. She gets everybody up and running. There is an exercise class, bingo meetings, and happy hour on Fridays. They have a nice theater with movies twice a day and they'll make you popcorn. They have a chapel on the third floor. It is very good value.
Quail Lodge was nice. We liked it. It was very clean. They have lots of independent things for people to do. It looked very pleasant. I was happy with it. They were doing a healthy eating program while I was there. I went through the room where they had art classes and exercise. They have a pool table somewhere on the premises, and they have cards and a puzzle table somewhere else. The environment was nice. We saw a one room and I would give it a five because it is being completely renovated. The outside of the building was clean. There was a walking path all around with benches every hundred yards or so. The staff members were all very helpful and pleasant.
Quail Lodge Retirement Community is gorgeous and nice-looking. The staff was OK, but I felt like I was buying a car because of their questions. Also, I didn't feel like it was totally independent living. I tried the food; it is food cooked for a large amount of people. There were probably 30 tables in the dining room with white tablecloths. You have breakfast at 7:00 a.m., lunch at 12 noon (lunch is your main meal), and then at 5:30 p.m., you eat dinner. At the time that I was there, the meal included a bowl of soup and a sandwich (for dinner). You weren't allowed to take your food and go back to your room to eat; you have to eat it in the dining area. They have a room for movies, they have shuffleboard and pool tables; they have all of those, but I didn't see anyone using anything. There were a few people playing cards but not a whole bunch of people playing there, and it was at 2:00 p.m. Nevertheless, the place looked like an antique hotel. I was very impressed when I walked in the door.
My mom is now living in Quail Lodge. It is actually very nice. Its value is good for what she gets. She seems to like it a lot. She is fine with the staff. She is on the third floor, which she likes. Her room is small, but very nice and very pleasant. It has a nice patio and a small kitchenette. The food is adequate. Activities are Bingo nights and movies, but my mom is not very social so she doesn't partake in any of them.
Quail Lodge looked five star to me, like an expensive, high-end hotel. Each unit is handicap-accessible and they have an emergency pull cord in the living room and in the bathroom. They don't have a kitchen, but they do have a little kitchenette. They have a dining hall where they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which is included in your monthly rent. The manager was very professional and nice. The place is super clean, and they have their own beauty and barber shop, and they go on field trips.
Quail Lodge looks like a nice facility. We really liked that we didn't see anyone sitting in wheelchairs, stooped over and drooling. The people seemed energetic, alive and higher functioning, and there just seemed to be a lot of activities going on. They offer meals and provide room and board.
Quail Lodge in Antioch is a community of 120 apartments, dedicated only to independent living seniors. They are tucked away from the busy freeway about 4 miles and it is a very serene and quiet community, yet close to medical facilities and shopping and dining. This is the only community I have visited that has pull cords in every room, should a resident need assistance. In addition, in the renovated units, a built-in microwave and full size refrigerator/freezer are included.Their live-in, on-site management team is wonderful and are available to residents 24/7, should the need arise. They are a husband and wife team and are very helpful, cheery, and overall delightful. Their pricing is very reasonable in comparison to many of the other communities in the pricey Bay Area and I encourage any future resident to explore this community.
As of this date of 3/15/2015, the kitchen and dining room are closed and no one knows why!!!!???? No one seems to know when they will re-open. I will be calling the heath department tomorrow and see if they know anything! The residents are great, the management team seems to be a bit uninterested. They do seem to have a lot of things to do.
Thank you for contacting us – we appreciate your concern about Quail Lodge. The health and safety of our residents and employees is the first and foremost top priority of our Management Team. We are pleased to report that our community is safe and fully functioning. We are always available for our residents and their families, so please feel free to contact us directly anytime.
My mother has lived there for 2.5 years now. The managers stay a short time and then new ones come in. It is very poorly run. The grounds and public areas are very nice and the apartments are adequate+. The cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms could stand updating. The food is terrible. They can't keep a cook. The average length is about 3 months and then a new one comes in that is just as bad. Maybe they should consider paying more. Everyone complains about the food. The staff is over worked. The waiters clean the apartments when they are done serving and they lose staff and add more apartments to clean, so they aren't cleaned very well. When they say "light" housekeeping, they certainly mean it. Furniture isn't dusted very well, vacuuming is hasty, etc.
Knowing that your mother has been with us almost 3 years, we are so sorry to hear your frustrations. Our priority is exceed the expectations of each resident and their family members and we apologize this has not been the case. While we have experienced some turnover in past few years, we feel very confident with our current Management Team and their commitment to our residents and well-being of the Quail Lodge community. We have just hired a new Executive Chef and would love the invite you to join us for a meal and enjoy the caliber of our food services program. In regards to housekeeping, I will relay your message to our staff and make sure they strive for excellence in each unit during their weekly cleaning. If you have any other concerns or areas of improvement you would like to touch on, please feel free to email me at : email@example.com. Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to providing your mother a better experience.
Staff: They are very friendly to me and always listen to me when I ask a question or have a need. I appreciate the fact that all the staff takes time to learn everyone's name. The housekeepers remind me when they will be coming and it helps to have someone vacuuming my apartment. Managers are always available. They actually live in one of the apartments. I do wish that they would stay longer than a couple of years however. We have lots of activities and there is a bus for outings and shopping, although I use my car still. My favorite things to do are the exercise classes and some of the card games. I like the fact that there are lots of choices at meals and my friends seem pretty happy with them. I like the fact that they keep fruit and coffee available. I also like the dessert cart that they have after meals. Dessert is my favorite part of the meal. I think it could be better if they kept cookies or pastries available during the day. It is called independent living so there are no care services other than managers or staff available 24 hours a day for emergency. Some residents hire outside caregivers or use the caregiver group that rents one of the apartments. The building is clean and and I like the large green backyard area.
Retired Teacher, Thank you for your positive review. We appreciate you taking the time out your day to share your thoughts on Quail Lodge.
The Staff is really "on the job". I'm sure they have their trials and tribulations but I have never seen any anger expressed or anything close to it. They make most feel wanted, watched over and pleased to be living here. They get a 5 for their professionalism and results. The Activities are many. Just about anything the tenants enjoy doing. They get a 5 because they are always well attended and looked forward to. There are Activity Calendars by the month, available. The Food is a 5. Very tasty, healthy and 3 meals a day with snacks as desired. Of course everyone doesn't like the same food. There are special replacement menus always available. The meals are served in a Hotel like atmosphere on very nicely set tables for 4. I would prefer assigned tables, but I am a newcomer and I'm sure there is a reason for it, I just can't see it yet. Quality of Care. To my knowledge this is only an Independent Living Facility. Couldn't erase all Stars. Facility. The Building is spotless, the grounds are very nicely groomed and the flowers are gorgeous. Vehicle parking is monitored. Tenant Apartments are cleaned weekly by our housecleaning staff. The Facility is a surely a 5. We all feel safe and cared for here, I would like to rate it higher. This is a very nice place. I have only been here a short time and I think this is a plus. I am looking with wide open eyes as a person who has never lived in this kind of a Facility but yet I understand what must occur to keep a calm and safe atmosphere and it's here at Quail Lodge!
Glad you are happy in your new home.
As a resident at Quail Lodge I feel well looked after. I have been in 6 different retirement homes as I my children moved and wanted me to be near and this one seems to be the most caring about their residents. If I am sick, they check on me and I can order a room tray. They have lots of good activities planned. Also, many of the men residents have started and run extra activities. One man has a trivia time on Saturdays and another has put together a Wii Bowling Tourniment. He designed handicaps, so even if I am a poor bowler I can compete against the best bowlers. The food is good. The chef comes out after every meal to serve coffee and asks us how we liked the meal. He listens to us and we see how he adds more of the things that we like. I also like that the staff is always friendly and smiling and the managers come out at meals to serve coffee and talk to us. In the other Senior Communities I was in, the managers were more interested in staying in their office to get work done. Our managers live in the building, so there is always some one to help if we need it. One time in the middle of the night I accidently pulled the emergency cord and someone came within 5 minutes to check on me. I felt bad about getting them up in the middle of the night, but I now know the emergency system works. The building is well maintained and we have a really pretty back yard with a walk all the way around the building. I would move here again. And I do hope my children do not move away.
Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience online. We pride ourselves on a caring staff, delicious meals, planned activities for residents, and a beautiful building, all of which you are pleased with. And we hope for your sake and ours, that your children do not move away!
