Given its close proximity to Houston, Katy is a small town (population of a little over 12,000) with access to a major city. The weather is great, the economy is solid (there are several different corporations that have their headquarters there including BP) and it features many upscale developments. Plus, due to its top-notch school system, Katy is the kind of place that’s ideal for families that are looking to relocate. Kayt is a great place for seniors with public libraries, a dog park and it’s also home of the Mary Jo Peckham Community Center, which hosts plenty of activities of interest year-round.

Organizations Serving Seniors in Katy

Katy has a wealth of organizations that specifically cater to the needs and interests of seniors. Aside from its AARP groups, there is the City of Katy Senior Center which offers everything from health check-ups and exercise classes to crafts, parties and day trips. There is also Young at Heart, a Christian-based organization that is open to members and guests of Holy Covenant United Methodist Church. Young at Heart hosts dining events and travel, even to those who may be a resident of assisted living in Katy.
