Opened in 1993, the park is home to the Boardwalk Craft Market, historical Nelson House, Poway Heritage Museum and a fully-operational 1907 Baldwin Steam Locomotive which operates daily rides around the park. Seniors gather at the Poway Senior Center in Community Park to participate in the Center’s many enrichment classes, enjoy a hot lunch, take a tour of a local hotspot or join a rousing game of Bingo. The Center also offers door-to-door transportation services to help seniors get to and from Community Park.

Poway Medical Facilities

Since 1977, residents of assisted living in Poway have been cared for by the staff at Pomerado Hospital. The 107-bed facility is part of the Palomar Pomerado Health System which has several campuses in the San Diego area. Pomerado’s Emergency Services department is open 24-hours a day and the hospital is known for its cardiac and vascular care, gero-psychiatric unit, rehabilitation services and wound care center.

Poway Transportation

Public transit in Poway is run by the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) which operates bus and trolley services in the greater San Diego area. Residents of assisted living in Poway can hop on one of two fixed bus routes that connect to the MTS Trolley route circling San Diego’s major destinations. Seniors who are unable to ride regular buses due to a disability are welcome to use the MTS Access paratransit program that offers curb-to-curb service in specially designated, wheelchair-equipped buses.
