Brookdale Santa Catalina (formerly Santa Catalina Villas) is a unique, full-service, resort-style retirement community located in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson. We offer services that are multi-spectrum, from independent and assisted living to memory care and skilled nursing care. I visited this facility
We didn't care for Brookdale Santa Catalina. It's old and it's starting to look rundown. When we were there, I didn't see any indication that they were remodeling or fixing things up. The elevator was very small with a sign saying "Be Careful." The elevator doesn't always stop flush with the floor. My husband's in a wheelchair and if it's not flush with the floor, I wouldn't be able to get him in and out of the elevator, so that was a big concern. I also noticed that the sides of the building were crumbling. When they called me, I asked if I needed an appointment, and the girl there told me, "No, just show up." However, when I got there without an appointment, there wasn't anybody to show me around, so they had to call somebody from the sales office to come up to show us an apartment. The person was uncomfortable because she wasn't the person that should have been doing it, so she didn't really do a thorough job with us. The apartment we saw didn't impress me. There was no view, just a parking lot. It was also showing its age.
