I Visited This Facility

The Gardens of Sun City was too expensive. I wouldn't want to be there because the memory care people are upstairs and they're kind of locked in and they can't go anywhere. They have round-the-clock nurses and aides to help take care of you and they have all kinds of games, but it was very cold and uncomfortable there.

I Am A Friend Or Relative Of A Current/Past Resident

My mother is at The Gardens of Sun City. We like the variety of activities that they have and we like that it's a medium-sized community. Everyone seems like family; they are very friendly. The people who work there have worked there for quite some time, so there is some stability in the care that they're providing. They have Bingo, movies, card games, and cooking activities. My mom really likes the food. Another thing that was compelling about them is that they allow pets, so my mother was able to take her dog with her.

My mother-in-law has been at The Gardens of Sun City for five months now. So far, everything has been really good. The place is always clean. My mother-in-law seems to be adjusting well. The staff is wonderful, very friendly, and very accommodating. They have music all the time, which she really enjoys, and Bingo and games. She has a studio-type room and it's really nice. We had it divided with a dresser, so it looks like she has a bedroom and a small dining area. She always says the food tastes like a 5-star hotel.

I Am/Was A Resident Of This Facility

The Gardens of Sun City was wonderful, and I enjoyed my stay. I was in the care center. It was nice, and the food was good. We had our own separate dining room, but we were allowed to go out and eat with the regular seniors out there. We had arts and crafts, bingo and baked all kinds of cookies and bread. They'd bring people in to put on shows for us, and we had flamingo dancers. We had Spanish nights where we'd eat Spanish food. There's always something going on. The staff was wonderful, and I liked everybody I'd met. They let people make suggestions on what they wanted to, and they would try to get it for them. I'd definitely go back there but I couldn't afford it because it was too expensive for me.

I Visited This Community

I have visited The Gardens of Sun City several times and have always been very pleased with the time I have spent within the community. The Gardens offer a variety of care options, from Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, Short Term/Respite Care, etc. The staff at the Gardens are very personable and friendly, always ready to drop what they are doing to assist a resident and/or visitor in need. I have the utmost respect for the staff at this community – I am convinced that they are a large part responsible for all the smiles I see on the faces of the residents during each and every one of my visits. The Gardens offer a fun, sociable, and very creative activity calendar for the residents. They encourage a vibrant and active environment for socialization and physical/mental/emotional stimulation. This is definitely a must see community – particularly if you are searching for Assisted Living care.

Brighton Gardens (also commonly referred to as The Gardens of Sun City) is a multi-care facility located in Sun City, which is place to be in AZ for 5-Star senior living. They offer Assisted Living, Memory Care, Respite Care, Post-Op/Rehab/Short-Term Care, as well as Skilled Nursing. They offer 3 or 4 different Studio floor plans and one 1-bedroom floor plan, however, the apartments are all small compared to many senior living communities throughout Sun City, averaging about 350 square feet. Personally, I have never had any negative experiences at the community, however, I do get concerned because the occupancy is always low. Brighton Gardens is an approximate 60-bed facility, but the occupancy seems to linger somewhere in between 40-50 percent. The reason they are unable to fill to max capacity may not be a quality of care issue or any sort of service-related issue at all – it could merely be the tough competition from other communities nearby or it may be a lack of marketing; it may also be a cost issue; maybe their fees are too high for what they offer or maybe it’s the size of the apartments – who knows. I just tend to become a bit concerned when I see a facility that has such a hard time filling their beds. Again, I want to reiterate clearly that I have never had an issue with Brighton Gardens. From what I have seen, all areas from care to services/amenities to activities to food service, etc. are all above average. That, though, is based only on a handful of visits. Brighton Gardens does offers quite a lot of services and amenities. The facility is WiFi capable, they have many common areas for socialization, a computer room, activity/game room, salon/spa, a community kitchen, and more. They also offer many fun activities and opportunities for resident interaction, such as happy hours, movie nights, live entertainment, they have resident gardens for those who love gardening, social clubs, and more. The food service is excellent – they offer anytime dining so that residents can eat when they are hungry, not at set times. They also always have snacks and beverages available. The community is pet friendly, so residents are welcome to bring their pets to live with them. The community also offers pet therapy sessions, which has proven to work wonders in relieving feelings of depression, loneliness, and abandonment. One final note about Brighton Gardens that I always believe is worth mentioning. Included in the monthly costs are housekeeping/trash removal/laundry/linen services, as well as cable TV service and all utilities. Also, for a small fee, internet and phone can be added on as well, I would encourage you to take a tour and draw your own conclusions about the community.

Located right near the entrance of Sun City, with Bell Rd as major street nearby, the facility is having a good location for seniors in Sun City, Sun city West and a part of Peoria. It is an older not ugraded building (old) with clean grounds and entrance. Some rooms are small and many times hard to maneuver a power chair, but clean and neutral painting color on the walls. The most important thing is care and this place offers a good care as it seems to hire experienced staff all the time. It is a little bit of wait from the moment you call for help until somebody comes but not at all times. Menu is always posted so you know what to expect and many times not so great. Adjusting the menu seems to be a big problem especially for those who have diabetes. But if you are not demanding this would be a good place. I would like to see more activities in the living room area, and activities for each group of level of care. They cover transportation and this is good. I would think that the doctor visiting should come sooner but it always take a longer time I think the facility is an option right at the middle of a scale, with so many choices in the area
