Vista del Rio was an excellent place. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms were adequate and some were a very good size. I was impressed. The amenities looked classy. The facility didn't look worn out or rundown. I wouldn't mind living there myself. They were bowling when I was there, and they were having a good time. They go on excursions on the bus to department stores and malls.

Business Response

Thanks for stopping by and taking a tour. We are happy that you love Vista del Rio almost as much as we do!

Vista del Rio was very favorable all the way around. It was nice, clean, and friendly place. The staff was wonderful. I saw three rooms and they were good and although the kitchens were smaller than I thought they were going to be, but the room itself is surprisingly comfortable. They have quite a few activities. They had a pool, laundry, and meals. We had a meal there and it was really good. The place was pretty, colorful and clean.

Business Response

I love Vista del Rio. It felt like home and everybody was friendly. People hang out in the living room; that's how peaceful and relaxing it is. There was one person doing manicure on one of the residents, and there were a couple of people playing, too. The person who accommodated us was amazing. She was a very nice lady.

My boyfriend's mother is now living at Vista del Rio, and so far it's been great. She's very happy there and says the food is good, the people are nice, and the staff is helpful. Her room is small, but it's all she needs. They do cleaning for her and change the sheets once a week which is nice so she doesn't have to worry about it. It's a studio with room for a little couch and a bed. They have movie night, bring in performers who sing, play bridge, and do outside activities. There's no shortage of activities. They have an exercise room.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Vista del Rio is the best one of all the ones I looked at. I got a 2-bedroom and it is away from everything. I didn't like their main building because they have three floors of rooms and it is more like living in a hotel and there are too many people. However, here, it is like having my own apartment. They come up with a list everyday of all the different activities they do. They have musicians come in, they play poker, and there are movies and art classes too. The food is very good. They have chefs that cook. They come out with a printed menu everyday and you have several choices. It is all very good, so I'm happy with it. The staff members are very nice and helpful. I have a service dog, and the building is fenced in for him so he can go outside without running away. Everything is too expensive, but I think Vista del Rio is great for the money.

Vista del Rio was a very nice place. It was a little more updated than the one we ended up selecting, but of course, it was also pricier. The grounds were very well maintained. There were lots of activities. The menu looked great, but we didn't get to try the food. They have a pool and a fitness center. They also have group right in the main building, who are private, and they provide assisted living-type services. It is kind of an a la carte system where you can order services as you need them. The staff was very friendly and professional. It was a very lovely building with very lovely rooms.

The rooms at Vista del Rio were exceptional. The room my wife and I looked at was an end unit, which was bright and sunny. It had a great balcony. It had everything that you would want. The only thing was that, for me, it was a little small. Vista del Rio was a very good place. We had lunch there, and the food was very good. They had a heated pool, which was neat. The staff member who assisted me had been in several different places, so she had quite a bit of knowledge about taking care of the elderly people. They certainly had a good serving staff, but I don't think they had a good variety of meals.

Vista del Rio's people were friendly and it was fantastic. There were people of different ages. There were people playing cards in one area, and some of them were in the library reading. They encourage the residents to talk to you so you can get a feel of what the facility is like.

Everything was very clean at Vista del Rio. The unit that we looked at was exactly what we were looking for. It was on the bottom floor and had a very nice slider with a doggie door for the dog to go in and out into the fenced area. It seemed to be perfect for us. The people were very friendly. The young lady was extremely helpful in providing lots of information about their community and what they had going on. She introduced us to the finance guy, and we talked about money.

Vista del Rio was the facility my mom was going to move into, but her doctor said that she should stay where she is at. Nevertheless, the people were very good, friendly, and nice. The girl we had was wonderful. There were activities too. They gave us lunch and it was very good. Other than the dinner, breakfast, and lunch, they also offer cleaning, bedsheet changes, and laundry. They showed us an efficiency room downstairs, which was great. The only thing I did not like about that is that the steps were horrible; however, they did have an elevator.

My mother is going to Vista del Rio this October. We chose it because their rooms were a lot bigger than the other places, and they offered outdoor patios which were really nice, but mainly it's because of the pricing. Everything else is pretty comparable to the majority of the places that we visited, but this is the one that she likes the best. When we were there, they had a little silent auction going on. They have ice cream socials, music, and arts and crafts, which my mom is really big into. She will stay pretty busy there, which is good. They have three meals a day. We really appreciate them taking their time with us during the many times that she has visited with other people, like my brother and her friends; they were so accommodating. The one-bedroom was really nice. There was a nice big living room and even though there's just a kitchenette, there's still plenty of space to put a little table and chairs along with living room furniture, so it was a really nice size.

I like the way that Vista del Rio is laid out. Every room has a balcony, and they have a movie room, a room for food, a room for exercises, etc. They take the residents places in a bus to visit different places and even take you to your doctors' appointments. They serve three meals a day and there's housekeeping once a week.

The lady that took me around Vista del Rio was wonderful and quite knowledgeable, and I got to see everything I needed to see. The place was beautifully clean. The people I met and talked to were very friendly. The studio room was so small. The activities were fine, but the swimming pool was pretty small. It was three stories with an elevator. They had buses that would take the residents to activities. I only wanted one meal a day, but they serve three meals.

My mother is in the independent living of Vista del Rio, but with some extra a la carte assisted services. It's an apartment complex that has indoor apartments. They provide three meals a day and also activities onsite. She really enjoys the food, and she has great reviews of the food for the most part. She really likes living there. For the most part, the staff has been really good at working with us on things. They have a beautician and a stylist that comes to their beauty salon. So she's been able to get her nails done. The staff has all been very pleasant. They have all the care services, which we appreciated, although we're still working on our billing issues. But overall, we're very pleased. She seems to be settling there. They have lots of fun activities planned all the time. My kids enjoy visiting there with other residents too. Overall it's been a really good experience. There's a wide variety of rooms, from a studio to larger two- or three bedroom places. My mother-in-law is staying in a large one-bedroom, so she has a small kitchenette with no stove but has a small refrigerator, microwave, and small sink. She's on the second floor so she has a small balcony which she likes; it overlooks the green space.

Vista del Rio was nice. The rooms were like a long stay hotel suite because the kitchen was just out there in the living space. The facility was well taken care of. They had the music guy singing songs, and the residents were down there.

Vista del Rio was great and seemed like a nice place. We really enjoyed it. The staff was wonderful, nice, and very helpful. The 1-bedroom was a little smaller than what we had hoped for, but the patio was very nice and we liked that. It had a living room and an area with a sink, a place to put your microwave, and a small refrigerator. The kitchen wasn't much at all, which was kind of a disappointment. The people also seemed very nice. They seemed very good with activities, like a lot of places they take you, and they seemed very good about taking the residents to the doctor, the grocery store, or the mall. It seems they had it all covered and they did very well. They have an area where they can read, there's an exercise facility, and a laundry facility.

My mother has been staying in Vista del Rio for a couple of months. It's a very nice place and well-taken care of, and she's adjusting very well. The staff is fine and very receptive, it's a good environment. Her room is very nice and very accommodating, and my mother is very comfortable there. She's in a one-bedroom one-bathroom, but they had choices for type of rooms. They have amenities available like a swimming pool, so it's a nice place. The food is really excellent. They have a very nice building and activities. I guess the value for the price is reasonable.

I saw Vista del Rio. All of the apartments only have a kitchenette. They have a small sink and a microwave, and that's it. For me, that's not independent living. I like the staff members; they were nice. The grounds were very nice. They also have a pool and a nice dining hall. The rooms were older, and the kitchenettes didn't look nice. They were doing bingo while I was there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have lived here at Vista del Rio for a year. I chose it because of the size of their casitas and the availability. There is a social director and she keeps the residents busy with activities. There is entertainment by singers, games, baseball with beanbags, cards, Bingo, and so forth. They decorate the beautiful dining room extensively during the holidays, they honor the Veterans, and if a person passes, there's a moment of silence out of respect. It's a very desirable place to live. The food is good and adequate. There's plenty offered and it's of good quality and it's tasty. One of the problems with this place is that it is intended to be an independent place, however, in order to keep it full, which it is now, they tend to let people who really need to be in assisted living come here. This somewhat undermined their original goal of having independent residents. They do not have nighttime supervision for people that get sick, so they always call the ambulance and fire department. They're almost always short of help in the dining room because they can't seem to keep their experienced help in adequate numbers. Their food is great, but service is very slow.

Vista del Rio was excellent. I have nothing negative to say about it at all. The place was very clean, nice, and had plenty of room. The residents appeared to be happy and satisfied. The staff was very attentive. I didn't have to wait for somebody to ask me what I need.

Vista del Rio was a very nice place. I liked it very much except they just give you an apartment. Assisted care is done by a third party. If you need any kind of care at all, you'd have to hire somebody else to come in and do it. I didn't like that I have to pay every time somebody walks into the room. I saw activities, and the residents were very happy. They had a little pool at the back.

Vista del Rio's staff were all nice. Everybody was nice. They sat me on a table with a bunch of people who were already eating and all seemed pretty nice, but they were all my parents' and grandparents' age. The dining area, rooms, and apartments were nice. Some of them had limited kitchens and some had full kitchens.

My parents have an apartment at Vista del Rio. Everything is going well. The staff is very nice and supportive. The food isn't as good, but it's edible and nutritious. They only have a one-bedroom, but overall, they're very happy there. I really like it but the food assortment could be better.

Vista del Rio only had a couple of casitas, and they were already rented. They didn't have what we were looking for. It felt more assisted living, and the decor was very outdated. The staff was very nice, very open, inclusive, and friendly. The dining area decor was little old ladies, and people were in wheelchairs and walkers. They had a pool, a chapel, and a small workout room. They seemed more directed towards people who needed help in movement and assisted living. It was fairly close to town, which was good, but it wasn't quite as close to groceries and restaurants.

We didn't care for Vista del Rio. The room was small and had no kitchen, just a cupboard and a microwave. The staff was very nice. We had a very good lunch. They seemed like they took good care of the place. The rest of the facility seemed adequate and there was a library and salon. The meals seem to be very nice and a couple of people I talked to seemed very satisfied. They loved being there. I was just disappointed when I saw the apartments.

I stayed at Vista del Rio. They had a bus that would take you anywhere, but it didn’t have a lift it, so I couldn't go because I couldn’t get in and out of the bus. The staff was pleasant, and the manager was really nice. They had a couple of changes when I was there, and I have been there for about a year. They had exercise classes and games. The amenities were very nice. The food had its days when it was good, but it had more days when it wasn't too great. The pricing was good.

My aunt moved in to Vista del Rio. They have a pretty nice staff, but they're understaffed. They have an additional group who are a separate entity, and they do additional services for the people. They're really good. I just think that the service is pretty slow, like for lunch you have to wait forever, and the food is kind of crappy. However, the apartment is really nice and the bathroom is a good size, and my aunt likes that everything is all inside one building. I expected a little more from them. One time it took five days for her TV to get fixed.

Vista del Rio was OK and wasn’t my favorite. They were nice, but it just wasn’t what we’re looking for. The facilities were OK, and the staff was fine. I didn’t like that they had set times for meals rather than having all-day dining, so that was one of the things I didn’t like about it. The amenities were OK. They were certainly less expensive but weren’t as nice.

I placed my mom at Vista Del Rio, but she's unhappy. The new manager is top notch. He's on top of any situation right away and that has really made my mother and me happier. The building is old and falling apart. Sometimes they have to have sandwiches to eat because the waterline broke in the kitchen or the ovens broke, and this is all within a few weeks. The chef really comes through and still is able to serve them something to ea,t but the company really needs to go in there and understand that this is an old building that needs updating. At first, it presents itself as being beautiful and fantastic and then you find that old age is catching up with it. I was horrified to see that the staff there does not know safety measures for dealing with the elderly. I saw an elderly woman fall in the lobby area. The residents and staff ran and they just picked her up and put her back on her seat. I tried to intercede and the office manager told me to go away because it's too crowded. Within 30 seconds of falling, they had lifted her up and had her standing on her feet and then walked her to the elevator and put her in the elevator. My other complaint is I am having to cook and freeze meals and take them to my mother, so that she can heat them up in her microwave and eat, because with the exception of breakfast, the quality of the food at lunch and dinner is disgusting. One day, nobody touched their food because they said it was horrible. Maintenance is excellent. Their new recreational director just quit, but they're keeping things up. I went one morning to have breakfast with my mom, and the breakfast was sensational. I've never had such a fabulous breakfast. But while we were eating, this woman walked by and introduced herself and said she's the manager that oversees several of the properties. I figured breakfast was great because someone higher up was coming that morning and was going to see. I liked that it's all enclosed. My mother doesn't have to go outside to go to the dining room.
