The best way to get to know a community is by scheduling a tour. See the facilities, meet the staff and residents, and get a feel first hand what it's like to live at Brookdale Peoria Union Hills Memory Care.

My mom was there for 5 months. I brought her there because it seemed like a reputable facility. You don't really know how your loved one is taken care of unless they allow you to be there at night. The night staff is not as it should be...especially if you mom is in depends. They lay there all night without being changed. The day staff is excellent. I moved mom out of there because I was told I had 30 days after making waves.....complaining about staff and what was going on and what should be going on. Beware of putting your loved one at this facility. I don't know about the other Brookdale facilities but this one sucks. Plus I'm still waiting on a check for a refund this facility owes my mom. It's now over 2 months. Thinking of getting an attorney to collect these fees.
I knew Brookdale Peoria Union Hills when it was still Emeritus at Peoria and I have to say that through the transition, from Emeritus to Brookdale, the Brookdale team has made many changes for the better. For one, the food service went from “just okay” to “EXCEPTIONAL.” Out of every senior living group, I have to say that, in my opinion, Brookdale takes the cake when it comes to food service. There seems to be high morale among the care team and the residents. Although, I don’t have proof of this, I have had several residents and family members who have told me that the turnover among staff members appears to be decreasing. They say that the staff members seem to really enjoy their work and the community. One lady told me that one of the things that frustrated her the most when the facility was still Emeritus at Peoria was the fact that just when she got used to a staff member (or more importantly, the staff member became familiar with the resident, becoming aware of the resident’s routine, care needs/care plan, likes/dislikes, etc.) that the staff member would be out the door and a new employee would step in to take their place. She said that it made things very difficult for the residents, staff, and family members alike. She said it was very sad to be unable to truly count on a staff member since she never knew if they were going to be around the next day. She also said that mistakes are often made throughout the chaos of staff changes, mistakes that could be potentially very dangerous. However, since Brookdale took over, she says that the staff members seem to be sticking around. She says that she feels comfortable with opening up and feeling at ease when interacting with the residents. Brookdale Peoria Union Hills has come a mighty long way since being Emeritus at Peoria. You can tell that the management and staff members have put a ton of pride, commitment, and care into making the community a safe, loving, convenient, and fun place to call home!
